Bad news: My external drive isn't working, so I can't access my files. This means any pictures, scans, or screenshots I have don't have anywhere to go except the desktop, and I can't add to or even read the guide I've written. So just about everything will have to be put on hold. I'm still going to be watching my DVDs of Bonkers and House of Mouse, and since I've already spotted several new weasels in them, I'll at least jot them down with pen and paper by noting the episode title and the role they play. My copy of Pop Weasel's third appearance has arrived, but like I said, any scans I make won't have anywhere to go.

Oh that's too bad... hope you can get it fixed!! And I'm still thinking whether I should get that Bonkers or not...I don't think Disney's planning on official release... Is Paypal safe?

Is Paypal safe? Man, every major shopping website I've gone to uses it, including the stores of major brands, and I have yet to have any problem. Whether or not you're spending your money wisely depends more on the trustworthiness and reliability of the seller. And since I got my Bonkers DVDs safe and sound, I think you can trust him! XD

Okay, I don't have my external drive back yet, but I did manage to find somebody else's scans of this Jiminy Cricket comic where he meets Mr. Toad. And of course who else would cause trouble for he and Rat and Mole? None other than these two guys, Alf and Toff. smg.photobucket.com/albums/v428/tymime/Weasels/Out%20to%20Launch/?action=view¤t=4c989-003.jpgThe issue also included this story, and the weasel came as a surprise to me because I hadn't heard of it. What's even weirder is that he's not toonish in any way whatsoever- he's very realistic, although I doubt the artist used a real weasel as reference. Because he's essentially just a wild animal, I've decided to call him "Feral". smg.photobucket.com/albums/v428/tymime/Weasels/The%20Small%20Sensation/?action=view¤t=4c989-013.jpgI also included this single panel in which some gophers mention a scuffle with a weasel in passing. And it might as well be the same one anyway, so... Now these guys are a real mystery- I found them over a year ago (I don't know why it never occurred to me to mention them until now) at this professional animator's sketch gallery. larryanimation.com/html/character_design_7.htmllarryanimation.com/html/character_design_8.htmlNow, what is this "grand Disney project" he refers to? I haven't found anything with these guys in it, and from the looks of things, he wasn't allowed to specify what the project was, which implies that the project wasn't finished when he put them up. Could there be any possibility that they're for the test animation created for Who Discovered Roger Rabbit? I kind of doubt it, because they're obviously good guys, and the weasels described carry tommy guns and everything, as seen here: www.filmbuffonline.com/Features/RogerRabbitII.4.htmSo what were these guys for then? That's what I decided to ask the animator himself, to see if he was willing to indulge me and reveal what they were created for. I have my doubts that I'll find them in anything that was released to the general public. (I hope to God I don't have to start looking at Disney's more recent, stupider television series, which aren't truly Disney in my book...)

Aw! They're all so cute! Are they going in your encyclopedia? Perhaps could those mystery guys be character designs that were pitched? I wonder if the weasels from Who Discovered Roger Rabbit were going to be the Toon Patrol before they were organized...not likely though...TT_TT That would be awesome...

I think the ones in the Jiminy Cricket/Mr. Toad crossover are very well-drawn, don't you? Now that's how standard weasel heads should be done! Is "Feral" really that cute? He looks pretty vicious to me.
That's what I guessed they were- pitched character designs. I just wish I knew what they were pitched for... It did cross my mind that the Toon Patrol may have been chosen for that test. That would change everything, wouldn't it? Roger would've had to really cross them in order for them to become enemies. Toon Patrol or not, I can't help but wonder what drove Roger to hire weasels to threaten movie producers... he's a good guy, is he not? In fact, is it at all wise to consider it canonical? It was only a test after all, and the test made for the original film was based directly on the book, which as we all know is VERY different from the final film.
And yes, they will go in the guide/encyclopedia. Why wouldn't they? I just need to be able to get at it... my external drive hasn't returned yet.

Great news: my external drive is back and perfectly intact! My crushing boredom is no more! It's just horrible not being able to do 90% of your art and projects for weeks on end... I'll be working on the latest version of the guide and scanning new comics, and possibly putting up some screenshots, first thing tomorrow. I've found a bunch of new ones in Bonkers and House of Mouse... the latter of course will be mentioned in the House of Mouse thread as well.

Triple-post again... doesn't anybody notice these threads anymore...? Anyway, I got some insider information on "Buzz" and those two mystery weasels from the "grand Disney project"! Straight from their creator. That probably explain why those two look so darn friendly... they were meant for educational stuff! Wonder what role they would play? If it's anything like those Jiminy Cricket "I'm No Fool!" shorts... Or anything like this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BrivBSv20Y

Oh, yes- they were added quite some time ago. In fact, I found those exact same screenshots. I believe I told psychoangel about them somewhere, possibly in a PM... It's really more of a Hungarian accent, since it's an impression of Peter Lorre. That's why I gave him the name "Lorry". Since Wayne Allwine, today's voice of Mickey (XD), voices the other one (as seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUebFZts8Eg), and uses his nose for it, I've called him "Nosey".

Oh, sorry I've not replied to this thread for so long... I guess I just think all weasels are cute ^_^ btw, that little cricket was REALLY cute, too ^_^ I don't think Roger hired the weasels. He wouldn't do that. They were probably his friends who showed up unexpectedly to back him up. Hey, fatal, where'd you find those full-length comics? Any chances I may find any Foul Fellows Club (De Boos Wichtenclub) comics anywhere? btw, about the Christmas Carol...this is random, but seriously, could Pete BE any more repulsive? and to think that's now the same guy who voices TIGGER, for crying out loud! Sorry, I just had to say that...

Yeah, you're right about that- Roger, I mean. He's not the violent type at all. (That's something I don't think Gary K. Wolf understands...) I got those comics from a couple of sources. They're all hosted at one site, but they've been uploaded by two different people. Here they are: h33t.com/details.php?id=1ac1fc4fe29d55a8db08baf79d569c8019a48976h33t.com/userdetails.php?id=74371Unfortunately, they're all American, so no European ones. The only Foul Fellows Club story I found with Br'er Weasel was the one where he looked like an otter. If I had found any, I would've put them up! Do you know how to use BitTorrent? I do know of a dA artist from Netherlands, fully bilingual, who knows about Br'er Weasel and is a HUGE Disney fan, so I'm going to ask her if she can donate scans. Pete is voiced by Will Ryan in Mickey's Christmas Carol. He does a WAY better job at imitating Pete's original voice Billy Bletcher than Jim Cummings could ever hope to do... I dunno, I guess he finds eternal damnation to be funny... If you look at the DuckTales episode "Horse Scents", you'll notice Shifty's partner has almost the exact same voice as "Sleazy" in Car Toon Spin, and Shifty's partner is credited as Will Ryan.

Ah, ok. I haven't seen the movie in a while, so maybe I got his accent crossed with Greasy. XD I just didn't see them mentioned in the thread and was wondering if anyone had spotted them. (And feeling quite sure someone -did-.) And yeah, Pete is actually kind of scary at the end. o.O But then to me, he -should- be at that point. Someone needed to scare the crap out of Scrooge and get him to change his ways. Why they don't use weasels in more comedic things I don't know...ferrets (related to weasels, of course) are hilarious little critters.

They're pretty much the butt of every physical joke in Mr. Toad, and even more so in The Prince and the Pauper... Disney has obviously decided that they're the sort of villains that are supposed to be funny when defeated. I'm not entirely sure if that really flies well... Mostly though, they're used as generic baddies, very often working for someone else who has power and wealth.
I really, really think that a whole lot more can be done with Disney's weasels. I mean, they're so chock full of personality and plot potential, and they have such a big cool factor... Heck, there are a TON of cool characters out there that are just brimming with potential. I see a lot of things like that...
So did anyone look at the video I put up a link to?

Yeah, I just watched that. Pretty cool, actually. I always like to see the voice actors behind the scenes. It's just so much fun. ... Like they've got a sinus problem. *laughs*
