I wonder if the weasels ever realized just how serious the consequences of their actions would have been. They would have not only wiped out Toontown and all its inhabitants, they would have put hundreds of men and women with jobs in animation out of work. No jobs means no money, which means their families would have suffered.

I'm pretty sure that it may have been a stray thought in their minds, but then it just evaporated. I'm pretty sure the guilt would've eaten them up later on, but I don't think they ever considered the consequences. I mean, their actions in the movie seems like they don't care much for the outcome, so it might be possible they have thought about it, they just didn't care cause it wouldn't affect -them-

Blinded by anger, hatred, and lust for power, I say. SA mentions how he's to become mayor of Toontown (or, quoth the Psycho, "What's left of it!") in Car Toon Spin. Thirst for revenge can make you do crazy things... Of course, this is my own theory about their motivations behind their willingness to destroy Toontown. It's the only one that makes any sense to me... But then when they find how little there is left for them, with SA being the mayor of a puddle of paint- should Doom have enough mercy to let the Toon Patrol actually live- surely then they would see the leviathan error of their ways.
Thank God such evil and tragedy was not allowed to pass... which is why I'm not an Eddie hater. They attempted mass murder, and paid the price.
Wow... I didn't realize just how grim it all was...

This issue will be addressed in my fic. The weasel ghosts will get an understanding of how their actions would have affected the human population. They never talked about it in the movie, aside from the destruction of the Red Car.

Well, LA lost their trolleys anyway, so...

Red Car aside, the entire film industry would have been severely affected. The world would become dark and gloomy without laughter. As Roger said in the film "a laugh can be a very powerful thing". As long as Toons keep making humans laugh, the world will be bright. My theory is that it's the power of laughter that keeps hope alive, and therefore keeping the human spirit alive.

The American animation industry would pretty much collapse... unless everyone was bold enough to create new versions of the characters, which most likely wouldn't work. Creating entirely new characters would be the most ethical thing to do in that world, I think.
You see, creating a new version of a character out of whole cloth, instead of giving the original character an extreme makeover, I think, would be considered extremely unsavory in that world- although it wouldn't be much different from cloning. I think under normal (but uncommon) circumstances, a toon would be able to duplicate his/herself or change their age... like Goofy's shorts in the late '40s, The Prince and the Pauper, or Tom & Jerry Kids.
Laughter eases a person's pain and makes them less of a sourpuss. I think that's the lesson that Eddie learned at the end of the film... Even though there would still be live-action comedians, losing thousands, if not millions of toons would be incredibly tragic because of their important place in the world, culturally, artistically, and socially. Perhaps toons are something of a niche, but it's a very large niche. Animation companies would have no choice but to pick up their feet and start anew with new characters, but even then there would quite a struggle because of the humongous shoes they have to fill. Audiences would miss the old toons dearly.
...And then there would be the enormous mess everyone would have to clean up... a massive puddle of toxic dissolved paint and Dip. And because of the sheer size and physics-defying nature Toontown seems to have, who knows how long that would take! Worse, it might ooze into other areas... The cost and labor it would require would be mind-boggling. That's probably something Doom didn't think out. Would Cloverleaf have been able to clean things up before building the freeway?
There's one silver lining... Duckburg is supposed to be next to the real-life city of Eureka, CA, way up north from LA, according to Don Rosa, a famed Donald Duck comic writer. (I don't recall Donald being in the crowd after Doom died...) Oh my God! What if Doom planned to strike there next??

Well, it was a good thing he was stopped! I can't imagine if Donald Duck got the Dip.
I'd have to go back and look again...I've always wanted to screencap that last scene and pick out who everyone is in that crowd. I know he was there earlier dueling pianos with Daffy, but I don't recall seeing him after that.

I would imagine there are screenshots online... I recall looking at it closely one time, going frame by frame, and I don't remember Donald being there.
I don't think all too many of Carl Barks' original characters were around yet during 1947. It was only Scrooge McDuck and Gladstone Gander, I think.

I'd rather do my own though. XD I'm just curious about who all was in the crowd, not specifically just looking for Donald.

The WFRR characters list on Wikipedia might help you identify them all...
Just think: every one of their lives was on the line just a few minutes ago.
Come to think of it, were they all really close by enough to charge in the room like a stampede? I never realized how weird that is. Did they hear the loud noises coming from inside the warehouse?

Toons. There's just no telling, honestly. They could have been on the other side of town and shot themselves over with a giant slingshot or something. Or maybe they were in the area? I mean Yosemite Sam shot over the Toontown wall into the Acme parking lot in the beginning. (With his...uh..."biscuits" burning. *giggles*)

That's my best guess. Being in the area, I mean. Apparently by the railroad tracks in that big, cutesy meadow.
...We've kind of drifted here, haven't we?

Just thought I'd let you know, Donald is indeed in the scene after Doom's death. Baby Herman walks right past him down in the front when he's yelling at Roger about Toontown just waiting for some other developers wrecking ball.
I just watched the movie again and happened to think to watch for him.

Ah, then he had just escaped his untimely doom, then- t'anks t' Eddie! I suddenly admire Eddie a lot more... perhaps the reason why he kicked SA in the "nose", thus sending him into the vat of Dip, was because he sensed that he was the most willing to destroy Toontown?
