I think it depends on what the girl is like. I could see Smartass saying "broad" or "doll" when speaking of women in general, or if he meets some attractive female that he's only interested in for a one-night stand. But if he sincerely likes a girl for who she is and like, wanted a relationship, i think he'd be respectful. Frankly he'd have to. Plus, if he didn't respect her, she'd most certainly put him in his place. Hell hath no fury like a womans' scorn.

Suppose he doesn't know how to be respectful? It's a good possibility in the 40's. He might want to be respectful, but isn't able to, perhaps.
That would make for a good fanfiction, actually... any takers? I'm not doing it.

I've put little disputes with woman like that in notes for my weasel fic. Well, his tough guy image and bossy stubborness isn't any match for a woman that's incredibly p.o.'d. He'd learn how to show respect quick, if he knew what's best for him.

Ah, the femme fatale, I assume? Maybe his machoness would make it easier for him to deal with weaker-willed women.
...And I'm sure Greasy would prefer women who are swayed by him.

Would he rather have a woman that's more submissive and docile, or would he want somebody that's got a fiesty streak and is a bit more aggressive disposition? Her nature would determine how he'd treat a girl, i think.

I think he'd want an even match. I think he'd be very ticked if a woman tried to punch him out. Me, even my masculinity wouldn't tolerate a woman who tried to pin me down, boss me around, or punch me out... I myself would probably get just as angry as the woman if I didn't like her much in the first place.
I dunno, I guess I just don't tolerate being bossed around. For some reason the idea of a woman treating me like a piece of dirt gets me riled up, just thinking about it...
But I think that's the main reason why Smarta** would want an equal- since I'm seeing it from the male perspective, would it not be possible that he would think similarly? I mean, I like empowered women, but not tyrannical Amazon ones.

No, i don't mean a tyrannical woman. No guy would want that, nor would a guy deserve that to begin with. I'm just wondering if Smartass would prefer a girl that is either more docile or more spunky.

That's why I say that I think he'd prefer an even match. So, I think more spunky would be better for him- as played by Katharine Hepburn or somebody like that.
EDIT: Besides, what weasel girl wouldn't be spunky?

Oh yeah, weasels are a spunky bunch! XD I could so see Smart Ass with a fiesty girl weasel; both of them teamed up and committing all sorts of crimes- and probably laughing about it the whole time. What fun! ;D

amen, sister. if some guy i didn't know swaggered up to me and started calling me "sweetheart", i'd give him a piece of my mind, and possibly a punch in the nose, if he wouldn't quit.

actually, that's why i'm asking. i'm already writing one, and in it Smart Guy is attracted to my character Dizzy. He does call her "doll", "sweetheart", and occasionally "toots", and he's not very respectful, but mostly because she DOESN'T make him be(she owes him money)

i agree completely! here's what i think. i think he'd like a girl who's smart, pretty, and tough, but who's not TOO headstrong and wouldn't argue with him much. she'd have to be loyal, so there's no chance of her swapping him for Greasy, and scrappy enough to handle herself so he wouldnt have to bother about her in a shootout or something. i think he'd be looking more for a trophy to enhance his presence (you know, like how they always painted the kings on huge, powerful horses to make them look more regal? so he would want a girl to make him look macho, or something like that) , but she'd have to be useful to the Patrol, too, so she's not a fifth (or in this case sixth) wheel.
Ay character Dizzy is just like that - she knows better than to disagree with the Boss, but Greasy learns a painfull lesson right quick. she's a New Yorker and she's REALLY tough. what do you think? how'd i do?
