Easy. First I found out from the internet that the movie was placed in 1947. Then look on the back of your WFRR DVD case: Underneath the picture of Roger and Valiant, there's a newspaper. Look closely at the newpaper; It's marked August 14, 1947

Look a bit closer. The newspaper reads Aug. 15, not 14. I'm looking at it right now on the inside of the dvd. It is a definate 15. Even the evidence tag attatched to the hand buzzer pictured to the right of roger and valiant says the 15th (although it reads sept. 15. I assume they screwed the month up accidentally, cuz the newspaper says aug. and its the paper that is in the movie, not the evidence tag) Trust me, it's 8-15-47, and i researched it a couple years ago cuz i was astonished that much of the film takes place 40 years before my birth 8-15-87.

(part of my last post- geez, the modify button must hate me) Anywho, i also asked some people to research as well, for i personally wanted some verification. And considering the day/night sequences that occur after the morning Valiant recieves the paper, they die on the 16. And in the scenes where the judge talks of his freeway, the clock in the background (behind Wheezy at the dip machine) never reaches midnight (if i remember correctly. If not i'm an idiot) before they die, so they pass on the 16th.
