In Roger's words, "Toons are supposed to make people laugh". However, these days, they've expanded their range a bit, and plenty of animated movies, shows, and characters aren't supposed to be funny. This would seem to indicate that Toons don't require laughter, but there have been a few hints here and there that they somehow need laughter to function. Is it possible that it's not laughter specifically that they require, but powerful emotions of any type? Therefore, they can also run on fear or disgust inspired by violent scenes, or the "aww" factor from cute ones, or Jessica needs her fans' reactions to her ... well, you get the picture. Anyone think this theory is workable?

I've thought about that as well. That theory explains a lot. I think I'll go with it.
