I had a suspicion that it was a retelling of the movie when I first saw your images of A Different Toon. It's a bit of disappointment, 'cause I was hoping it'd be an all-new original story starring the Toon Patrol, but nonetheless it's nice to see some decent official art that isn't just a bunch of generic poses. Wow... so the only thing that really gives us a new story with the Toon Patrol is Car Toon Spin. Why is that? Why didn't Disney do anything else with these guys? If it weren't for Car Toon Spin, the Toon Patrol would be stuck in versions of the movie.
...That's actually pretty sad. Such awesome, distinctive characters, and they only get two appearances.
So I can tell that this was meant to be a simplified, child-friendly version of the movie. It's even more simplified than As Told By Roger! I suspect that this was created after the movie came out, as opposed to during its final stages of production like so many other movie adaptations. We obviously don't see anything about Acme's murder or Eddie's photos of Jessica (in fact, I notice Jessica isn't in this at all), so it pretty much amounts to some meanies who are after poor innocent Roger, and that Eddie is a sourpuss. So the moral of the story is: "Cheer up! Smile and the world smiles with you!" (Which is pretty much what the movie says, but it's a bit deeper and more to it than that.)
I was sort of hoping that Roger would be pulling pranks on Smarta**, but I guess not.
Come to think of it, did we ever see Psycho from behind in the movie?
Now if only we could get a copy of the novelization...

Well, yes this book is similar to the movie, but in some part it´s not. It´s more harless cause it´s for small children and the weasels are not so often inwolved. But the second book is much bigger, it has more pages, much of Jessica and better weasel scenes.

I had one of those books when I was a kid. o.O I can't remember what one though or even where I got it from. Maybe I still have it floating around somewhere.

What's the holdup? I'm really eager to see more unique art of the Toon Patrol- I really appreciate the work you've done! I understand if you're busy.
