Greetings. Greetings and salutations.
It's nice to find a site like this. I've always been an avid fan of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and the Toon Patrol villains in particular were/are still my favorite characters of the movie. No wonder I was continuously drawn back "through the woods" to this site. And as well, I've seen that there's some great talent on here, and at the very least, a lot of creativity! Some of the artists here are fantastic and there are writers that amaze, so I couldn't help but join. And I didn't take a shortcut either.
Just call me Red, or Little Red if you wish. You've likely guessed the full title already. I love shows and stories of my childhood, and being who I am I find I take a liking to the villains of those tales; likely why I like such wonderfully twisted characters like The Weasels. I'm a writer and a doodler, so I may be posting up some stuff. As you can see from my darker take on Red, I'm a fan of eviller characters and of more villainous stories. But I respect that their are quite a few kids here, so I'll be careful to mind my writings, whenever I get to writing that is.
;D Good to meet you all! I tend to talk a lot, but I'm useful for information on Who Framed Roger Rabbit if you want it. And don't worry, I'm nicer then my picture shows. Hope to make some friends, this seems like a friendly corner of the internet.

Hiya mug! Indeed, it's a pleasure to meet ya! I'm called Boss. I must say, your avatar and signature is cool, and it's always great to meet others attracted to dark mediums. ^_^ I'm really into dark stuff myself, and also adore old, classic cartoons, and 1940's culture as well. I'm also really into animals and nature. :3 This board is just full of benevolence, so I'm sure you'll have a ball. I certainly have! X3 So sit back, kick up your stompers, an' join da "weasel family" as I like to refer to it. lol (So you doodle an' write too? Gee, I'd love to see your work sometime!)

Reporting for duty then, Boss. ;D Sorry, couldn't resist. It's a pleasure to meet you as well! And thanks for the compliment. It took a little bit of effort to write the signature up, but I kinda heard Little Red Riding Hood talking in rhyme to Smartass, and it just wrote itself. Dark mediums are a great place to dabble in, and who doesn't love classics? I know I've grown quite the loyalty to traditionally animated stuff growing up, since I grew up watching animation grow and change. I adore Don Bluths work, and a lot of Disney such as Great Mouse Detective, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Robin Hood, The Aristocats, The Thief and the Cobbler etc-- of course Who Framed Roger Rabbit. And it's really cool that you're into 1940's culture, it was a fascinating period of time, and of course home of the noir style of film. ^-^ I'm guessing you take a liking to weasels in the way of animals and nature? Thanks for the welcome! No wolves in sheep's clothing yet, so I'm pleased. And yes I do! I draw and I write, I'm also a bit of a poet in my spare time, always learning and trying - I hope I can post up some stuff soon. Do you draw at all? ^^

Hi, I'm fatalhilarity. This is indeed a benevolent place- I have yet to see any fighting or disruption of the peace. I'm very happy to have found this place, because no other forum has been so peaceful and accepting. I've finally found a place where I fit in! I'm a huge traditional animation fan, too. The Golden Age of Hollywood animation is something I study a lot. The Secret of NIMH is one of my favorite films of all time, and has had a tremendous influence on me. It's cool that you've seen The Thief and the Cobbler! Not too many people know about that film. Have you seen the uncut version? I'm also a big fan of dark and macabre things, and old-school horror is my favorite film genre right after comedy. Ghosts, haunted houses, graveyards, vampires, werewolves... that sort of thing. NIMH shows me that cute and scary can be together as well.
I'm a cartoonist and a writer as well. (A lot of people here are!) I'm mostly into the classic cartoon style, with old-school horror and rock music thrown in. I can show you my dA page, if you like. I've written poetry, short stories, and I've been slowly working on novels for some years now.
And since I'm such a big fan of this sort of stuff, I consider myself to be a huge nerd. Finding this website led me down a path of discovery, where I found tons of new weasel characters by Disney. I can tell you all about them, if you want. It's my goal to expand the Toon Patrol fandom, and I figure additional characters would help a lot.

It's great that you like animation so much! ;D I do definitly love real weasels, but I generally am an animal lover and have had TONS of pets throughout my life, and some peole call me Snow White because wild animals often trust me. So you do poetry too? Awesome! Seriously, you gotta post some stuff when you can!! ^_^ That'd be cool!! Yes, I draw too, and i've been working on a novel for years now. I love to write, and people tell me my style is sorta like Tim Burton and Poe. I want to post some of my drawings and paintings when i get access to a scanner.

You know what? I've actually written a poem about Disney's weasels (as well as a bunch of other poems about other pop culture stuff), so I oughta post it sometime...
I really enjoyed your signature's poem, too. Can't you just imagine the massacre? Your avatar gave me an image of Little Red Riding Hood, now some sort of vampiric, vigilante anti-hero with a huge gun and a gaunt figure, shooting at a pack of demon wolves surrounding her... all of their eyes glowing red...
...I have a vivid imagination. Can you tell?

Can you tell? I guess I'll reply to two comments in one! ^-^ It's really nice to meet you Fatalhilarity, your names really creative! And yes, it is a benevolent place, there seems little squabbling and friendly people all around, though I'm still fairly new too looking around. The Golden Age of animation, always a wonderful topic -- and such good movies came out of that time period. Yes, Don Bluths work of The Secret of Nimh really deserved far more attention. The sheer dark beauty and horror of such an adorable piece of work really deserved much more credit then it was given. Yes I have! I've seen every version out there. ;D The Thief and The Cobbler, The Princess and The Cobbler, Arabian Knight, and finally The Thief and The Cobbler; Recobbled Cut. Amazing how long they worked on that film, and it's sad the recobbled cut never finished itself-- it's also sad that so few have heard of such a good piece of work. Certainly! Things of a vampiric/demonic nature are always fascinating, and traditional horror is much better then the gore fests of movies these days. NIMH was a wonderful blend of those, and it showed that something can fascinate you and terrify you at the same time. You're a cartoonist and writer? Sounds very interesting. I'd love to see your DA page, that sounds fantastic! I'm a big fan of these as well, and I hope I can also provide you with information. New weasels are always fun, I'd love some more information. True, the Toon Patrol fandom is often quite limited, although it is growing in recent years. And with this new comment from you, yes it would be fascinating to see some of your poetry! Being the reader I am I love a good poem and a good story. ;D Thank you! It was enjoyable to write and gave me quite the image. You certainly have quite the imagination. My idea is a bit different, but if you'd like to hear I'm willing to tell. It's a great picture though, certainly very cinematic.

What else was I to say? ;D Thanks, I love your headline under your picture, so funny and in character! I'm a big fan of animation and enjoying cartoons at any age, I've never understood people who hit past High School and stop. It's good to know others like those videos. I admit the only books I read at the moment, despite my love of reading, have been Redwall books. Snow White? That's really neat! Sounds like you have a real way with animals, something a lot of us wish we had. I've had luck with cats and rats, a few snakes - that's about it. XD Sounds great! I hope you get one then, it sounds like you've got a lot of talent. ^^ And years? You must be dedicated to writing then.

You're a cartoonist and writer? Sounds very interesting. I'd love to see your DA page, that sounds fantastic! It's not much as of now, but I will put up more soon (as soon as my external drive starts working again...) As much as I enjoy tooting my own horn, it's not really appropriate here in your introduction thread- but since you asked, I figured you'd like to know more: My style leans heavily towards classic cartoons (surprise surprise), but tinged in there are a number of other influences- when I was a preteen (and somewhat earlier than that) I was obsessed with Calvin & Hobbes and Pokémon. The latter made me get into that standard manga style that you see in "How to Draw Manga" books, which my brother intended to learn for a while there. Nowadays I've embraced my messy, angular style and joined it with my fascination with dark and macabre things, like old-school horror, rock music, fantasy, and my miniscule knowledge of underground comics. I'd say my style was rather edgy, and I'm pretty good at monsters and things. My classic cartoon influences have returned to full power now. I'd say Disney, Tex Avery, Edward Gorey/Charles Addams/Tim Burton, Bill Watterson, Brian Froud, Rankin/Bass, 1950's Mad magazine, retro advertising art, retro video games, Todd Schorr, Toshihiro Ono, and this children's book called Trouble for Trumpets are my biggest influences. The latter is solely responsible for my tendency to draw lots of tiny little details. Hmm... it didn't occur to me that no one outside of the people I talk to in PMs would know about my dA page. But I do have one, although it's not much and doesn't exactly represent me right now: tymime.deviantart.com/"Tymime" stands for "Typhlosion and Mr. Mime", which are the Pokémon we picked years ago to represent me and my brother. Me and my brother are pretty much partners, and we almost always contribute to what the other is doing. Most often, though, one of us is the "mastermind" behind the project, and the other will make suggestions or have some specialized job to do. My brother has a much cuter, cleaner, and more Disney-esque style than I do, because as it turns out, I'm the darker one and he's the brighter one. He's a heck of a lot better at drawing pre-established characters than I am, like Disney characters. The drawings I did are the Shy Guy ghosts, the Flying Hammer Brothers (we both like Mario), the floating evil witch in the fake video game screenshot, some bits of the "Sabermobile", and everything except the giant turtle-like things in the most recent one. My brother did those giant turtle-like things, the pirate otter, most of the screenshot, those video game enemy concepts, and most of the "Sabermobile". As you may guess, we're still learning how to color our drawings. Ah, Secret of NIMH! How could I have possibly forgotten Secret of NIMH for my list of influences? That movie has been a HUGE influence on me! It's exactly why a lot of my projects involve cute, huggable animals in dark, scary situations, and the reason why I prefer referring to real-life animals for my designs. I mean, think about it- you've got these adorable rats and mice writhing in agony and stabbing each other with daggers, and they're warping my eight-year-old mind! I watched the movie as a kid. I like scruffy, furry characters with sharp teeth because of it, and almost all of my characters are animals. I don't need to read Redwall or Watership Down to make me like and create talking animal fantasy worlds. I have kind of a slightly demented fascination with blood, as well. A lot of my stories involve bleeding. I probably find classic cartoons and horror to be perfectly compatible because of NIMH... That, and Nightmare Before Christmas and Car Toon Spin. Actually, it's quite amazing how often toons have scrapes with ghosts and monsters and things like that... But enough about me... what about you? Is there any place I can see your writing?

;D To Fatalhilarity: Sorry for the break in qoutes, but that qoute section was getting huge! Your drawings look quite interesting, you can see the influences you mentioned within them. Tex Avery, Tim Burton, Rankin/Bass, 1950's Mad magazine, and Calvin and Hobbes are all fairly familair names to me as I've seen them throughout my life as well. It's awesome to see the similairities between your drawings and them, I wish you were avaiable to upload more recent artwork of course. You're DA name is really fun, and I liked both your drawings and your bothers. I wish I had a sibling to work on artwork with, but alas no luck. Well I was heavilly influence by The Secret of Nimh and An American Tail, as well as Ferngully and such movies - it's not a demeted fascination though I bet, we all have different things we end up putting into our work we don't all realize appears over and over. Mines shadows and night settings overall, and mood-wise darker settings then average. Myself? I don't know what to say. I tend do draw darker lines and shade incessently, coloring much darker and more realistically even in cartoons. The art I draw tends to be messier and with a sketchiness about it, often drawn to hard so the effect becomes strange to look at. Likely the Don Bluth influence there, his animation was always more gritty. As of the moment there is no place to veiw my work, as my DA is under construction and my FF account was hacked a few months back. I'll be posting some work here though, so that should be interesting. I'm a poet myself, affected by darker poets and works, as well as a bit of Dr. Suess, so my writing can go from fun and erratic to terribly dark. Ryhme schemes end up at an A B A B most of the time, although free rythm can creep in as well, and I'm always experimenting. I'm no good at describing myself really. ;D

My poetry tends to be ABAB as well, and the syllable count and rhythm is always uneven, because I treat it more like a song lyric. My poetry is really strange, actually, because I don't really read other people's poetry. My influences amount to Shel Silverstein and rock music lyrics. ...And yet I don't really sound like those two things either. I can't really describe it. I do know it significantly improved when I took a poetry class last fall...
My style is rather messy and scribbly as well, like I said in those quotes, and always has been. I dunno why- something about the way my muscle memory developed, I guess. Actually, your style sounds even messier than mine! I don't usually do shading, and I almost never work in color. I don't really have a need for shading most of the time, because most of my drawings aren't really completed works in the usual sense.
I learned how to draw grass from Charles Schultz, actually.
And don't worry about the quotes- I prefer not to use them if I can help it, anyway.
