Dirty little mind...*chuckle* I don't know why, but when you add a 'little' to a phrase filled with such contempt, it becomes rather funny to me...
Well, yes, I didn't mean EXACTLY like Gary. I could clearly picture Slimy doing the 'self-restraint' thing (you know, when Gray bows his head and flings out his arms to calm himself down?) and thinking he's the coolest thing. I agree with the choice of 50s phrases, too!
What are greasers stereotyplcally like, anyway? The only one I've ever seen is Indiana Mutt, and I'm not even sure if he counts...
I agree! There seem to be many things that got Slimy kicked out, yes? ^_^ i wonder why he has to cover himself in Brylcreem? Yes, they would've! The whole movie has the classic noir shading, everything's dark! Maybe that's why they decided he should be so shiny, so he'd stand out better?
BTW...is it Flasher, or Sleezy? 'cause in the audio commentary, the weasels are listed as "Wheezy, Greasy, Stupid, Smart Ass (later Smart GUY), Psycho, Sleezy, Stupid, and SLimy who always had snot running out of his nose." (it believe this was the screenwriter who said this).
Which leads me to the unrelated question, is it officially Smart Ass, as was listed in the credits and model sheet, or Smart Guy, as the screenwriter called him and as he was in marketing? i know that changes made in marketing can become official, such as Pussyfoot being changed to a girl in marketing and staying that way. Should I open a new thread to discuss this?

I dunno... that whole self-restraint bit seemed like such a specific trait for Gary. Surely you wouldn't have the evil laugh bit? Well, I can't quite describe stereotype greasers offhand, but I can think of some examples: First of all, James Deans' image influenced a lot of greasers, and the British equivalent Teddy boys. There's Marlon Brando's The Wild One, though I haven't seen it. Steve Martin plays a sadistic greaser dentist in the musical adaptation of Little Shop of Horrors... though I must warn you that the movie can be pretty scary. Let's see... you could always look at photos of the Beatles from their visits to Hamburg in 1960 and 1961. Here's some really good sources: beatlesource.com/savage/1960/1960.htmlbeatlesource.com/savage/1961/1961.htmlElvis of course heavily influenced greasers... but not the whole leather jacket thing. His movie Jailhouse Rock is as close as it gets. There's the Darkwing Duck episode "Paraducks" and the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Elvin Parsley"... those are about greaser stereotypes. Johnny Depp's movie Cry Baby is a really good example, though I must warn you that it's a bit racy. And the movies Grease and American Graffiti... oh yes! There's the Fonz from Happy Days. I think the reason why he seems to use so much Brylcreem is because greasers literally made their hair greasy with Brylcreem and the like. Perhaps Disney thought that since he's a caricature of such, and he's slimy (probably in every sense of the word), he would go overboard with the grease and coat all of his fur? It's interesting to note that Slimy was originally going to be a Peter Lorre type, according to the list of names in the DVD's gallery. That was crossed out, though, and replaced with the words "coughing up phlegm". Perhaps we could say that Slimy, as we know him know, has a slimy personality as well as a cool guy one? Flasher obviously got further than the list of names and managed to get designed and drawn at least once. It IS possible that Flasher was called Sleazy at one point, but I think since his only known drawing calls him that, that's the more important name. That list of names describes Sleazy with the words "off-color remarks", which may very well be something Flasher might say, but I personally think the two are different from each other. Also, the member Two-Bits, rather coincidentally, named the unique weasel in Car Toon Spin "Sleazy"- you know, the one who says "Right this way, chumps!" and the like? I don't think he was aware of that list of names. Because of that, we're using him in the Ultimate fic and giving him the "off-color remarks" trait. I think Smarta**'s real name is Smarta** because that's what he's called in the movie. I think that name is more true to the mature direction the movie took, while he's only called "Smart Guy" because they didn't want kids buying toys of him with the A-word on it. To make matters even more confusing, he's called "Wise Guy" in Car Toon Spin...

well, yes, with the evil laugh, but the self-restraint thing can occur once or twice, yes? i just love it...cracks me up. but you're entitled to your opinion, of course!
oh,thanks, i'll look into those! THE FONZ! My mother taught me about him. She's apparently a big fan...^_^ She didn't tell me he was a greaser, tho!
Peter Lorre?! I saw that, too, but it never really clicked that Slimy was supposed to be like him! Jeez, I just CANNOT see that at ALL!
I too, saw the pictures of "Sleazy", and I plan to use him in my fic as well. When I first saw him, and I said, "Oh, my gosh, he looks like he could be Diz's BROTHER!" But, alas, Diz is an only child, and so instead she gets a really annoying older cousin....am I the only one who thinks he looks like her? I REALLY, honestly, didn't see him until at least six months after I designed Diz, btw.
Oh...okay...(I don't really consider anything in CTS official, though, because it doesn't fit in the original storyline...does anyone agree?)

Yeah, I'm fine with the self-restraint thing, so long as he doesn't strike the same pose. Is that all right with you?
The Fonz is a greaser simply because he's cool guy hipster who lives on the wild side and wears a leather jacket and combed-back hair. At heart, The Fonz is a stereotypical greaser. (I haven't seen very many episodes, though, so I don't really remember what he's like otherwise...)
Yeah, I don't mean to say that Slimy would act like Peter Lorre- what I mean is that Slimy literally having a slimy personality (in more of a cool guy way, of course) would be appropriate I think.
Yeah, I suppose he looks like Dizzy. I haven't really looked at the two closely enough to really compare, though...
Well, of course it doesn't fit the original storyline! I'm pretty sure that most people agree that it's a different storyline (but that's only an assumption), and I at least am of that opinion. It's so entirely different that it surprises me that anyone would assume it's supposed to be another version of the movie (no offense). Are you assuming that because Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is kind of an alternate version of the story? The only real similarity between Car Toon Spin and the movie, besides the use of the characters, is that the weasels are out to destroy Toontown with Dip. I personally see it as a prequel, depicting a previous attempt by the weasels to destroy Toontown. Don't you agree that that would work? The only problem is the depiction of the Toon Patrol as criminals rather than questionable law enforcement, but I'm sure I could work that out...

Yeah, I mean, it's not exactly up to me outside my fanfic! i'm not saying this is how he should be, I'm saying, this is how I personally think he MIGHT be, you know?
Sweeeeeeeeeeet...ya gotta love the name, too: DA FONZ! @b^) (this particular ecomotion is supposed to be a greaser, does anyone else think he looks like one?)
That's okay, you don't have to. My point was that I didn't want anyone to think I based Dizzy on him or copied off him in any way.
Well, I didn't think it was another version of the movie. I just considered it cool but unofficial. Maybe that would work...but it would make Doom look bad, which he wouldn't want, unless at this point he hadn't HIRED the weasels yet, and it was DIRECTLY after Eddie quit, because otherwise he would've heard it and know about the Dip, which he obviously didn't in the beginning of the movie...that would work, yes?

I like to think that Doom hadn't bought his way into being a judge just yet, but had already hired the weasels- who were willing to work for him because he made wild promises of revenge and had money and connections (remember that he's actually Baron von Rotten)- so he was having them commit crimes without the public knowing he was behind it. Later, I figured he'd make it look like the weasels had turned a new leaf by making them law enforcement. You see, Car Toon Spin couldn't have taken place before Doom hired them, because Doom was the one who invented Dip. Darn, we're off topic now, aren't we? Umm... well, I'd like to have something of a mutual agreement on Slimy and Flasher, since we wouldn't want to argue over what they're like, right?

oooooooh, true...
oh, right, sorry...*clears throat* er, right, er.... I see Flasher as having an extremely immature personality, you know? What with the baseball cap, which they used on Stupid to imply immaturity. And the finger-wiggling...maybe i'm totally wrong and he's just that creepy?

Yes, of course they do, but it's strictly illegal. I, uh, looked it up on Wikipedia a few months ago because I wasn't quite sure what a flasher was. ^_^'

Even if they had Dick Tracy hats like Eddie? Seriously, though, he's named Flasher, and every other weasel lives up to their name, so if anybody writes about him ought to know what a flasher is for the sake of knowing his predominant trait... why would you write about the Seven Dwarves if you didn't know what "Sneezy" meant? That's hyperbole, but you get my point...
