I know that some of us have either used or are planning to use Slimy and Flasher in out 'fics. So how do we know what their personalities are? I picture Flasher as being a total sicko, and really immature, and Slimy as being a LOT like Gary from "Fairly OddParents" - narcissistic, "cool", and thinking the ladies totally dig him...except that Slimy would have a nasty habit of hacking up snot and sneezing all over everyone all the time. Yea? Nay?

Slimy would have to be really delusional to think that all the girls dig him, since I can't think of ANY girl who would be able to ignore someone with an overabundance of phlegm and mucus... not exactly kissable. I dunno... why not have Slimy be like a James Dean misunderstood rebel? Or is that not cartoony enough?

yes, i think that'd be funny if he was so delusional! is that dumb? who's James Dean? what's he like? well, yes, obviously Flasher's gonna flash people. but what do you think his personality would be like? James Dean is an actor from the 50's, who became a symbol for the youth rebellion at the time for his rather raw and gritty dramas, and achieved near-mythical status when he died young in a car crash after only three films- his car is believed to be haunted and disappeared one day after mysteriously injuring all who came into contact with it. ...I haven't actually seen his movies, but from the clips I've seen, he does a lot of pained screaming and especially angst-ridden brooding. From what I saw, they're about dysfunctional families that stress him out so much that he runs away or something... but that's only a guess. I'm mostly interested in his death and his haunted sports car, really... it's mostly his image that's iconic. You've probably seen his photo. Try this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_DeanI think perhaps he's a bit too serious to really use as a model for Slimy, unless you made a mockery of him. We of course all know about his awkward placement in 1947 when he's a 50's stereotype... I think we all agree that Flasher is a pervert... I mean, the way his tongue is wagging and he's reaching out his grubby little hands in his concept art just screams "Bleheheheheh... I wanna grope you!" to me. XP I would imagine that's one reason he was dropped. Because I just couldn't bring myself to write for such a gross character, I don't wanna use him. I mean, you could easily give him every inappropriate behavior problem you can think of...

Slimy always seemed like a James Dean-like character to me too! He always reminded me of Dean's character in "Rebel Without a Cause."

Hmmm... Flasher seems like he'd go out of his way to be a rude, foul person.

Slimy always seemed like a James Dean-like character to me too! He always reminded me of Dean's character in "Rebel Without a Cause." I was really only making a suggestion since he's an iconic greaser... thinking about it, it wouldn't be terribly appropriate to base a satirical character on such a serious actor (to me, anyway). Perhaps Marlon Brando's The Wild One would be better? His accent wouldn't really work for Slimy, I don't think, but I'm just tossing out ideas here... y'know, greaser stereotypes. Come to think of it, despite psychoangel's odd (IMO) choice of a Fairly Oddparents character, it's the best suggestion I've heard so far...

Slimy looks ,,,well...too much slimy for me...;; I mean that one drawing was just too strong. Too much gooey stuff! But I like the design. He must be greasier than Greasy! (Greaser...yeah.) And Flasher seems very mean and rude.. Look at him wriggling his hands eww! I'm 90% sure if he was in the movie, he must have been the one that went through Jessica's booby trap. Wonder what kind of relationship they had with other 5. Actually, I did one doodle with Slimy in it!! I'll put it up

Me, I simply love a serious twist on a cartoon character. ^^ Oh, so do I, but it's more MY style, and not really Disney's. I mean, sure, we've got Greasy's love of the ladies, which is a bit on the mature side, but it's meant to be laughable. James Dean, on the other hand, isn't funny at all- he's a bit TOO serious to fit into a Disney-co-created world taking place in the 40's and/or 50's. So unless he were making a total mockery of James Dean, I don't think it'd work very well with the others. I'm thinking of what Disney might do... I mean, I've got a gritty rebel toon character who isn't really meant to be funny, but I don't think Disney would have one.

I mean, you could easily give him every inappropriate behavior problem you can think of... Grubby little hands...for some reason, that makes me chuckle... i don't know if i would call them behavioral problems so much as choices. I mean, flashing isn't a subconscious thing, is it? Hmmm... Flasher seems like he'd go out of his way to be a rude, foul person. i COMPLETELY agree. Come to think of it, despite psychoangel's odd (IMO) choice of a Fairly Oddparents character, it's the best suggestion I've heard so far... well, yes, it wasn't the greatest example, but it was the only thing i could think of to explain it. sorry. (has anyone seen the episode with Gary? do you know what i'm talking about?) I'm sorry, but i think a James Dean persona is a bit too intense for a Toon like Slimy, at least the type of Toon I see him as. i don't picture such a hard-boiled personality fitting in with the personalities of the other weasels. perhaps that's another reason he was cut? I'm 90% sure if he was in the movie, he must have been the one that went through Jessica's booby trap. I have said that same thing to my sisters at least five times. Wonder what kind of relationship they had with other 5. Actually, I did one doodle with Slimy in it!! I'll put it up YAYY!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well, most sexual habits are impulsive, so there's a certain degree of self-control involved, or lack thereof. So while it may be his choice to flash people, it's all based on the lack of restraint on his dirty little mind, I think...
Don't worry, psychoangel, I'm not criticizing your choice of Gary- it's just a bit of a surprise to me, that's all. And yes, I have seen that episode- it's a pretty good one. I love that show! With that in mind, while he has a personality that I think would be appropriate to Slimy, I think there are certain things that ought to be somewhat different. There are, of course, a stack of stereotypical 50's hipster phrases he'd likely use... like "Real gone, man!" or "Dig that crazy chick" or "I'm a cool, cool cat, Daddio!" and stuff like that there.
I completely agree, psychoangel, that a James Dean personality wouldn't work- I don't think it's something Disney would do. Who can really say what Disney had in mind for him? We can only guess, so having him be humorous is the best route, since it's the most likely. That's why I prefer to pick some sort of broad caricature of a greaser.
In fact, from the way Slimy is so darned shiny, I would assume that he douses his entire body in Brylcreem... even his clothes! It was probably meant to be another facet of his sliminess... I just realized that the ink and paint dept. would've had one heck of a time making him stand out against the background, what with his almost entirely black color scheme... I mean, how would he have been visible in all the dimly lit scenes in the movie?
