I saw Coraline today, and it was utterly fantastic!!! I simply loved it! It certainly had a Tim Burton style with dark, quirky, creepy touches- sorta like Nightmare Before X-mas or Corpse Bride. Has anybody seen it, or wants to see it?

I saw it too ! The visual is fantastic...I heard the director Henry Selick used to work with Tim Burton. I think they share some taste? Anyway, it was really cool movie and the movie worked great with 3-D sunglasses. Those jumping mice...sooo cute. And Wybie! Only thing I didn't like about this was I couldn't really relate(sympathize?) to the characters. On certain parts towards the end, it felt like watching demo movie that explains next mission in the game. Game lovers agreed. lol. But!!! This must be one of the most beautiful and entertaining stop-mo of this year. So glad they're still making stop-mo! Hope this movie does well.

The movie was excellent~! I loved every bit of it! The soundtrack was great, especially the bit with the Other Father's song. I just had to stay and watch the credits just for the music ^^ Overall, Coraline has got to be one of the best stop-motion films I've seen and I'm totally looking forward to the next one (i'm planning on watching the film, 9, later this year)

I saw it again today, since i just hadta see it once more in 3D! I just love this movie! ^^ Hmmm... well, after seeing it again, I've made up my mind. My favorite character is Wybie, followed closely by the cat, and then third is Coraline. ^_^

I gotta kick outta the scene where Wybie's looking for banana slugs with the cat, because it reminds me of when i look for caterpillars with my cat Popcorn! (He honestly follows me around outside and gets right in the dirt with me, and he knows exactly what i'm looking for. He enjoys it because he likes to eat the caterpillars i find. XD Ew! I used to do the same thing with my black cat Brenda, although with her it was grasshoppers.)

Haha!! I didn't know cats can eat caterpillars! I thought even cats will freak out looking at creature with so many legs... And I also liked 'other' Wybie too^^ However, Wybie is not in original book(I didn't read the book). He's additional character for animated version. Which is great addition! +_+ I love his skeleton-with-glowing-eyes helmet!

X3 lol But he seems to know what bugs he can and cannot eat; Popcorn won't eat certain insects. XD

If I were toy manufacturer, I could make Wybie helmet and glove set +_+ but I don't even have a bike so...for halloween? lol but I saw some kids around me buying Halo helmet. I don't think that was even wearable...

Omg, that'd be so cool!! I don't have a bike either. I used to but somebody stole it. XD It would be fun to have a bike with a motor on it like Wybie's.

Okay, I just watched it last week- I would've posted sooner, but I didn't feel up to devoting the time to saying all that I had to say until now, for some reason. First of all, I'm just amazed by the sheer technicality of this movie. The huge amount of tiny little details, like Coraline's hand-sewn gloves, and the incredibly smooth animation was such that I could easily call it- dare I say it?- the Thief and the Cobbler of stop-motion. It's just that impressive. In fact, after a while, I forgot that it was stop-motion and that I was watching it in 3-D and just watched it. It's going to be extremely hard to top it. The story, of course, was appropriately surreal and creepy in that sort of childish way (which I like, because when you think about it, it's disturbing), and although I expected it to be more complex, I enjoyed it overall. I was pleased to find out that the the Other Father's song was in fact performed by They Might Be Giants, who I like. I thought there was something reassuringly poppy about the singing in that one... I found Wybie difficult to figure out... I figured he was generally the weird-kid-who-likes-skeletons type. I think that's a fairly common character in kid to preteen novels... of course I do know that he isn't from the original book, even though I haven't read it. I was left curious as to the nature of the Other Father and the Other Wybie... it was obvious that they were victims and prisoners as well, so I just wonder what manner of creature they are...
Did anyone else the message at the end? It said: "For those in the know: JERK WAD!" How delightfully cryptic...
And at long last, do I sense some George Pal-esque techniques?? rats r teh evil.
