Chapter 14

A few minutes later, the Toon Patrol stepped off the head of a slim pink sea serpent onto the Fantasmic stage.
“Thanks for the lift!” Kiara thanked the sea serpent. “We’re all right now.”
The sea serpent nodded its lovely head before turning back into a lotus pod. Smart Guy stared up at the huge mountain where he noticed a sword stabbed at the top.
“The sword of Lu Dongbin, the de facto leader of the group.” Hester explained.
“Well then, I guess that’s me.” Smart Guy rubbed his hands together. He was about to climb when Hester screeched, “HOLD IT!”
“What?!” Smart Guy said, staring at him.
Hester nodded towards Stupid and Kovu. “They have to come with you.”
“Why?” Smart Guy wanted to know. “Kovu’s still a kid so a sword will be too dangerous for him and Stupid is—”
Hester cuffed Smart Guy.
“Ow!” Smart Guy yelped.
“Has it occurred to you that you might not be the one Lu Dongbin had chose?” Hester hissed. “The fan of Zhongli Quan hasn’t chosen you!”
Smart Guy growled in frustration. “Fine. Stupid, Kovu, get over here!”

Twenty minutes later, the remaining Toon Patrol watched as Smart Guy, Stupid and Kovu slowly climbed up the mountain. Shadow suddenly became stiff and made tiny squeaking noises of despair.
“What’s wrong Shadow?” Kiara asked.
“He senses something wrong,” Hester said, narrowing his eyes. He froze and shivered. “The willies?” Wheezy suggested. Hester only nodded.
“Hey!” Psycho said suddenly. “Look over at that side of the mountain!”
The Toon Patrol turned their heads and to their horror, they saw five or six lionesses following the three climbers.
“Kovu!” Kiara cried out. “Look out!”

Meanwhile, the three climbers finally reached the top of the mountain. In front of them was a sword stuck deep into the earth.
“Ooh!” Stupid said eagerly. “This is just like ‘The Sword in the Stone’ where we have to try and take out the sword! Can I try it first?”
“Go right ahead.”
Stupid grabbed onto the sword’s hilt and gave a mighty tug.
“Oof! It’s stuck tight.”
“Can I try?” Kovu piped up.
“Don’t you think a sword might be too dangerous for you?” Smart Guy said, trying to change Kovu’s mind.
“I’m eight years old.” Kovu pointed out. “I can do it.”
Before Smart Guy could say anything else, Kovu grabbed onto the hilt of the sword with his jaws and tugged. The sword came out cleanly.
Smart Guy and Stupid stared wide eyed at him while Kovu beamed.
“Nothing to it!”
It was at that moment Kiara cried out her warning.
“Watch out for what?” Kovu called back down.
“Oh bravo, bravo.” A sly voice said. “Another demon tamer has been found.”
The two weasels and Kovu looked up in alarm. A group of lionesses glared right at them, flicking their tails.
“Oh no!” Smart Guy groaned. “Don’t tell me you’re with the queen’s group.”
“Such a bright thing, aren’t you.” The lead lioness sneered. “We’re most impressed with your progress. Unfortunately, that would not stop us from our mission.”
“And what mission is that?!” Smart Guy hissed. “Stop freaking us out like this!”
The lionesses only laughed mockingly.
“As if we would betray Queen Lilith’s plans to the likes of you.”
“Queen Lilith?!” Stupid yelped. “She’s the queen of all demons!”
“And you’re following her?” Smart Guy snarled.
“Why of course,” The lead lioness nodded. “She promised us great power if we served her well. Now we shall release the demons and destroy all mortals who oppose us.”
“Oh no you’re not!” Smart Guy snapped. “We’re going to stop you!”
He blinked. The lionesses had disappeared into the darkness, but a voice still called out.
“We’ll meet in battle in the new kingdom of this park.”
At that moment, Fidget flew towards them.
“Guys! The lionesses! They’re—”
“We saw them.” Smart Guy sighed. “They told us to meet in battle in the new kingdom on the park.”
“You mean the Animal Kingdom?”
“Is that the new park?”
Fidget rolled his eyes. “If you had seen the news on TV, then yes!”
“But how are we going to find them?” Stupid wanted to know. “They keep on popping up without warning.”
“That reminds me,” Fidget pointed out. “When they came, Shadow started to go weird. Hester thinks he might sense any dark creatures lurking around.”
“We can use him to track the lionesses down.” Kovu pointed out. He then smirked. “Besides, Hester also has the willies. But…what about the rest of the demon objects?”
“Wheezy asked Hester the same question.” Fidget said. “Hester said that demon objects are not important right now. What’s important is that we need to stop whatever the lionesses are planning with their queen.”
“All right,” Smart Guy began to give instructions. “Fidget, go down and tell the others to wait for us. We’re heading straight to the Animal Kingdom and show this queen what we’re made of!”

Chapter 15

Later, the Toon Patrol crouched behind the boxes as they watched the lionesses gather into the Animal Kingdom tree. The Animal Kingdom was still in it’s unpacking stages, leaving crates and boxes filled with props.
“There’s a secret door to the tree?” Smart Guy whispered to himself.
Stupid narrowed his eyes at the group of lionesses. Crawling over to a bunch of drums, he climbed on top of them to get a better look. The drum he was on top of suddenly gave way and he went crashing to the ground.
“Shh!” Smart Guy hissed.
Stupid looked up sheepishly. “Sorry boss.”
Hester looked over at Stupid, but then his eyes widened. “Stupid, get the drum you were on.”
“Huh?” Stupid blinked at him. “But—”
“Not important! Just grab it!”
Stupid yelped and grabbed the fallen drum, clutching it close to him. Smart Guy nodded his head.
“All right guys, lets go.”
The Toon Patrol surged ahead of their leader, tension rising at the facing battle. Smart Guy was about to follow them when something stopped him. Something from a crate was calling him. He crept over to the crate and looked in.
A gourd was shining brightly, radiating a yellow glow. Smart Guy took a quick look before reaching in and grabbing it.
Whatever nobody sees can’t hurt them.

The lionesses crept deeper and deeper into the Animal Kingdom’s tree, their mission nearly complete. The lead lioness stopped and narrowed her eyes at something just ahead.
“Ah, the Pan Ku Box,” She turned to the others. “Quickly, someone take it!”
“Why not you?” Another lioness growled. The lead lioness snarled.
“The Pan Ku Box is made with good magic! Being the queen’s most trusted servant, I am clearly not.”
One brave lioness walked over to the Pan Ku Box and with a swipe of her paw, knocked it down from the stand.
“You leave that artifact alone!”
The lionesses whirled around to see the Toon Patrol standing near the entrance, demon objects up and ready to fight.
The lead lioness roared. “Get them! Don’t let them get the Pan Ku Box!”
Kovu and Kiara leapt towards the group. “Let’s go!”
Smart Guy grabbed both of the cubs and raced off as the others charged forward. He quickly placed them near a large crack.
“You two stay here!” He ordered.
“But I’ve got a sword!” Kovu said as Smart Guy raced into battle. The room was filled with screeches and roars of battle.
Hester meanwhile was more intrigued by the inscriptions on the wall. He walked through the battle with barely a scratch, sat down and began to read.
Stupid was getting desperate. He had been dodging and leaping out of the way of a swift lioness and the only weapon he had was a drum.
What do I have to lose? He thought to himself. He held out the drum and quickly banged on it three times. The drum began to glow brightly and suddenly a light shot out. The lioness roared as it was thrown back into the wall. Stupid stood silently for a moment, comprehending what just happened.
Kovu, Kiara and Shadow crouched near the entrance, watching the battle. It was then Kovu saw the lead lioness dragging a cloth towards the Pan Ku Box.
“Smart Guy! The Pan Ku—”
“Talk later!” Smart Guy snapped, leaping back from a lioness’s claws.
He found himself back-to-back with Wheezy.
“When I give the signal, we’ll dodge.” Smart Guy instructed. Wheezy gave a nod.
Two lionesses roared and leapt towards them.
“NOW!”
Wheezy and Smart Guy dodged-rolled out of the way and held up their demon objects. The gourd and the flower shot out a beam of light, knocking the two lionesses away from them.
Fidget flew in the air, dive-bombing any lionesses he encountered. Greasy rapidly played the castanets, shooting out beams at the attacking lionesses.
“Smart Guy!” Kovu yelled. The lead lioness wrapped the cloth around the Pan Ku Box, lifting it up like a sack of treasure.
“Yes!”
Without another word, the lioness raced out into the night.
Psycho screeched with rage and lunged towards a lioness, head-butting it in the chest. The lioness tumbled back, but stood on her paws.
She was thrown forward by a forceful kick by Hester.
“YOU ARE BLOCKING MY LIGHT!” The Toon cat hissed.
The remaining lionesses growled and snarled at the Toon Patrol.
“Who else wants a piece of us?” Smart Guy taunted.
The lionesses stepped back and raced after their leader.
The Toon Patrol began to give each other high-fives.
“We did it!”
“Better than that, we finally got our demon objects!”
Their victory was short-lived by Hester’s screech of rage.
”DEMON OBJECTS ARE NOT IMPORTAAANT!!!”
Hester’s fur flattened as he calmed down and nodded towards the wall.
“The inscriptions are.”

Cool, they got all the demon objects.

Last...chapter...

Chapter 16

“Long ago,” Hester began. “Ancient China was ruled by eight
demon sorcerers who terrorized the land. Each demon had
their own elements. The elements of fire, sky, moon, thunder,
earth, mountain, wind and water. One by one, the demons were
defeated by the Eight Immortals, the legendary heroes of
China. The Immortals used their magical symbols to banish
each demon to an immortal realm. They then used the Pan Ku
Box to seal them in, each demon behind their own portal in a
different part of the world. The only thing to locate and open
each portal is the Pan Ku Box itself.”
Hester gave a nod. “So, it is a very good thing those lionesses did not—”
“Guys!” Kovu interrupted. “The leader’s gone and she took the Pan Ku Box!”
Upon hearing that news, Hester’s back fur spiked up and his eyes widened.
“AAARRRGGGHHHHHH!” He screeched.
He turned to the Toon Patrol. “WE MUST FIND ANOTHER WAY TO LOCATE EACH DEMON PORTAL AND TAME THEM BEFORE THE LIONESSES USE THEM FOR EVIL PURPOSES!!!”
With that, Hester collapsed with exhaustion.
“But how?” Wheezy asked. “We don’t know how to locate them!”
Suddenly, a fierce wind blew from the outside. The Toon Patrol jumped as a flashing light flew into the room. There was a flash and standing in the middle was a familiar wizard.
“Merlin! Where have you’ve been through all this time?”
Merlin turned towards the Toon Patrol. “Oh I have been traveling throughout the years of 2001 and 2008.” He then frowned. “And believe me, you can have it. Nothing but one big giant mess!”
“Merlin, guess what?” Stupid said eagerly. “We finally got our demon objects!”
“Demon objects are not important,” Hester growled.
Merlin only laughed. “Ah ha! Well done, all of you! Now, we must go and find where the portals are located and—”
“That’s the problem Merlin.” Smart Guy said. “The Queen’s minions took the Pan Ku Box and ran off with it.”
“No problem, no problem at all.” Merlin said, waving a hand. “Luckily, I have brought my own sort of magic.”
He then took out a bag and laid it on the floor. Waving his wand over the bag, the bag opened up and out danced a deck of cards. After dancing for awhile, the cards laid down onto the floor.
“They’re blank.” Greasy sniffed.
“Correct,” Merlin nodded. “For these cards to work, you must move them around until the combination is just right. Then, three cards will show you which demon you will be facing, which one of you shall tame them and where the portal is located at. Simple yet difficult at the same time.”
Hester’s eyes widened with excitement. “Great! That’s more than great! It’s perfect!”
Greasy looked over at Smart Guy. “Well boss, whadd’ya say?”
Smart Guy was silent before speaking. “Let’s do this.”
“Yes!” Kovu cheered.
Merlin chuckled and looked down at Shadow. “Looks like they have quite an adventure before them, eh?”
Shadow gave a tiny nod.
And so, a new journey begins for the Toon Patrol and a greater destiny lies before them as their journey for the demon sorcerers begins.
