In the begining of the movie when Doom dips the shoe it is sid that dip is the only way to kill a toon. However, Pshyco is destroyed by a giant brush, the others are destroyed by laughter and Roger holds up the weasles with a gun. The weasels should have nothing to fear unless the gun was loaded with dip right? Post your thoughts here.

They backed off because they were afraid Roger would shoot Doom. No boss = no job, and no job = no paycheck, no money, no nada. And the weasels were apparently an exception; they're probably the only Toons that have that weakness. BTW, Psycho fell onto a DIP-coated brush, so he was DIPPED, basically. Either that or he laughed himself to death before falling onto the brush. Or he already crossed the line and couldn't stop laughing, and he choke-laughed himself to death while on the brush because he was trying to laugh.

It's funny how in the movie only dip kills toons, with the exception of the weasels being able to die from laughter. In the book, toons are in just as much danger from a gun being pointed at them as a human is. They can die the same way as any person and aren't immortal. I actually intend to make the weasels and toons vulnerable in such a way, just like humans, in my fanfics.

in my fic, i intend to use the theory that the guns in cartoons like Bugs/Daffy/Elmer and Roger's "Roller Coaster Rabbit" don't harm Toons because they were ceated as PROPS, therefore the "injuries" (beak blown off, full of holes, etc.) are technically special effects. other weapons, such as the weasels' switchblades, were created to DO HARM, and the injuries they inflict are NOT special effects. doea that make sense?

I've mentioned this before in several other threads, but this is my pet theory. I believe that there are two kinds of deaths for toons: First, there's the normal kind, which we see in many cartoons, in which the winged, lyre/harp-plucking soul of a toon pops out. I think what causes this is extreme violence. There are cartoons where a character loads themselves with a bunch of explosives and then swallow a lit match, thus blowing themselves up and producing an angel. There's also an Elmer Fudd and Sylvester cartoon where they blow themselves up, and Sylvester has all nine of his lives popped out. Usually I think this for the sake of a gag, and kind of a stunt, like when Roger gets a fridge landed on his head. What brings the characters back is made possible by being needed for the next script for a short or movie. So the Toon Patrol didn't have any such script. How or why they're weak to uncontrolled laughter, I don't know. Psycho quite possibly died both of laughter and getting crushed by the spinning brushes. I don't think it was the Dip. Second, there's Dip, as everyone here knows. Dip works because it melts the very ink, paint and film they are made out of- it's pretty much acid. We've seen that the toon doesn't produce a winged soul when Dipped, so it's unknown where the soul goes or if it at all remained the same kind of matter it was before. This is an entirely different kind of death from the kind mentioned above, because they are almost entirely irretrievable. While it is true that the only kind of human-made gun that could kill a toon is one loaded with Dip-tipped bullets, as seen in Gary K. Wolf's pseudo-sequel Who P-P-P-Plugged Roger Rabbit?, or a squirt gun loaded with Dip, as seen in graphic novel sequel The Resurrection of Doom--- I don't think a toon is invulnerable to a human-made gun, because even though it won't kill, it would hurt. There have been plenty of times when we see a toon get filled with holes like swiss cheese, so I think a human-made gun would do the same thing. It's not like the bullets would bounce off, would they? Also, I think toon props can harm humans, no matter what. The death of Marvin Acme from a safe falling oh his head is a good indication of that, although the nature of that safe (toon or real?) is bound to be disputed. When I say that a toon who died from Dip is "almost entirely irretrievable", I of course am referring to how Judge Doom managed to get resurrected in the graphic novel sequel I mentioned. Three new weasels take an old cel of Doom, ink and paint it, and get it photographed in a multiplane camera. This brings him back to life. According to the premiere episode of Tiny Toon Adventures "A Looney Beginning", a toon is born when they are drawn. If we were to regard both this and Resurrection of Doom as equal, it would seem that a toon can leave drawings of themselves behind, and will not come back to life after being Dipped until they are photographed, instead of just being drawn again. For those of you who haven't seen this comic, here are my scans: smg.photobucket.com/albums/v428/tymime/Weasels/The%20Resurrection%20of%20Doom/?action=view¤t=resurrection_of_doom_cover1.pngI must warn you that it's kind of scary, ending with a horrible death. There's also this video game I love, called Toonstruck. The main villain apparently brought back these toons from the dead as unfinished sketches with a good deal of difficulty. How he does it, they don't say. I've always assumed that it was black magic. Then there's Two-Bits' theory in his fic "The Weasels: Life II" (or something like that), where a magical paint is used. To be honest, I consider the original Who Censored Roger Rabbit? to be an entirely different universe, just because of how different the rules are. Heck, even Gary K. Wolf himself used retroactive continuity (retconned) to make this book a mere dream of Jessica's in Who P-P-P-Plugged Roger Rabbit?.

in MY fic, the weasels' souls reach Toon Heaven to discover that Smart Guy's soul is lost. they have to go to the Toon Underworld, created specially to hold 'Dipped' Toons, to retrive it. does that sound logical?

I'm not sure... there are plenty of moments where toons go to "Heck", horns and pitchforks and all. I just wonder if his entire being didn't become mere vapor... So have you finished reading it? Big stuff, huh? I think it changes a lot.

well, in my fanfic there's a difference between "Heck" and the Underworld. Heck is the place with the horns and pitchforks. in the yet-unnamed underworld, Toons dwell in the form in which they were when they got Dipped. i'm reading it right now, actually. having a terrible time getting the pics to load >:{ can i use a few on my site with credit to your good self?
i just finished it. those poor weasels! how horrible! *cries* i kinda liked the droopy-nosed guy!! i wonder what he meant when he referred to the Toon Patrol as his brothers? brother weasels, mayhap? 'cause there's no way the Toon Patrol could all be blood-brothers!

I see- we've got yet another realm for the dead. Hmm... I guess that's where Doom went too, huh?
Anyway... yeah, you can put some of the scans up if you want. I don't own them, after all! I would appreciate getting credit, though, since I spent a very long time scanning it (an entire day). Heck, any of the comic book scans I've got can be used! I want to spread the word about these extra weasels. In fact, I've been meaning to ask you to put up a page on your website about the other weasels besides the ones in WFRR and Mr. Toad. I've just sent you my incomplete guide to them in a PM.
I've always figured that the droopy-nosed one (who I've named "Slithy") is using the term "brothers" as an affectionate one to refer to the Toon Patrol. I figured it's kind of like how Christians and black people refer to each other as "brothers" and "sisters", even though they're not technically related. Weasel Freak, I think, suggested that it was because they were all created at the same time. I'm inclined to agree.

That sounds like the plot from Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End. The pirates go to rescue Jack's soul from Davy Jones' Locker. I like the sound of another realm for the dead, exclusively for Dipped Toons.
