I'll start. Has anybody ever had Watergate Salad? We always have it for holidays; Christmas, St. Patricks Day, 4th of July, ect. It's so good! And simple to make. All it is is pistachio pudding, whipped cream, marshmellows, and pineapple.

...What, besides ice cream? Well, what I most often have for dessert these days is cold sugary cereal, or whatever my mom makes. But my favorites (besides ice cream) tend to be cookies, chocolate, candy, and soda... pies and cakes are good too. And I really like cheesecake. You know, it's incredible how many kinds of sodas you can find. Why, I consider myself something of a soda gourmet. I haven't even tried half of what's available around here. To me, there are two main camps of sodas: brown ones, including colas, root beers, things like Dr. Pepper and Mr. Pibb, and some ginger beers or ales- and fruit flavored ones, like orange, grape, peach and apple. Then there's the miscellaneous ones, like Cola Champagne. One of best places to get soda, besides Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, is this place in LA called Galco's Soda Pop Stop. Oh my God, is there a lot of soda there! Everything tends to be old classics and things that are hard to find, and most of it is in glass bottles with real cane sugar. One reason I like Halloween and Christmas is that we always end up with enough candy to last us for days, if not weeks. One of my favorites is Abba-Zabba.

Oh, Abba-Zabba is great! I only seem to get those on Halloween. Anyways, i have to check out that place in L.A. that has all that pop. I should mention it to my brother. He hangs out in L.A. so often it's like his other home. I looove cream soda.

Lucky you- Galco's sells Abba-Zabba, and tons of other retro candies. It's in an older part of LA, by the way- here's the website: sodapopstop.com/You'll like the owner- he's a real expert on soda, and can tell you where they come from and stuff like that. Let's see... Zagnut, Look!, Big Hunk, Charleston Chew... all good underrated candies from the Sixties. If you like cream soda, I recommend this brand called Virgil's, which you can get at Whole Foods. Dr. Brown's is good too.

I get Charleston Chews all the time! I consider that variety one of my "usuals" when it comes to candy. Seriously, you're the only one that i've ever heard mention that candy; nobody seems to know of it. Oh, and i can never seem to get enough Junior Mints. I've also always been fond of the simple Snowcaps, but i can't find them anywhere these days. *I clicked that link; I seriously have to go there!!!

Hmm, I haven't heard of Snowcaps- but I have had Junior Mints, Peppermint Patties and this thin fancy one called After Eight.
I have a special fondness for this place out in the valley and up in the mountains called Oak Glen. It's famous for its apples, although because of Huell Howser, they've been importing their apples and they're not as good, and some places are crowded. Still, a lot of the other stuff they sell there- jams, candies, honey, homemade chocolate- are still good and worth getting.

Snowcaps are just chocolate chips with little white sprinkles on top. I'd get them at the movies when i was a little kid, just like my dad, when he was a kid. (we always tended to have the same taste in candies) Oak Glen? I haven't heard of that place. Pretty much whenever i go to a wooded/ mountain area, it's usually San Diago Oaks. The only place i know of in such an area, and it has nothing to do with sweets, is Cook's Corner. (There's this Canadian dessert my dad would make that was so good, but i have no clue what it was. I intend to ask my brother. He inherited my dad's cooking skills, not i.)
