We all know that toons don´t really feel any physically pain, but if you see the scene with Greasy having this trap on his left hand, he looks like he has big pain, because of the crying and jumping. I think somehow a toon can´t get hurt, but can feel pain. What do you think? On the internet I have found a picture on the website Julayla has found(you can see it in the fanart threat PIC I FOUND). There is shown Greasy and a grey cat girl. Greasy wears bandages around is chest with some blood on it, that shows a kind of wound.

I think they can feel pain like anyone else. Like if they, for example, get crushed by a car, it's gonna hurt like heck, but they'll survive it and recover super fast.

Yeah, I think so. But sometimes i switch my opinions around on this subject. What if they can get damaged too, but just not as severly as humans?

Yes, and if he would really be a half toon/human, so he could get hurt a little bit more than normal toons, right? And other toons, who get hurt a much mor than others could be half toons, too.

Yes, and since the weasels can die from laughing, isn't that getting damaged? Frankly that's as damaged as one can get cuz dead is dead. And the dip i guess

I don't think it has to do anything with "feeling" pain. It could be an instinct for Toons. In other words, they just act like they are in pain.

Just think about it. Toons are made of ink and paint. Has anyone mentioned a nervous system? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nervous_systemI didn't think so. I'm sorry if I sound cold here, but I'm just trying to make a point.

I think it's pretty obvious that Toons feel pain. I mean, Roger goes "YOWWW" when Eddie yanks his ears. If you put them in an electric chair, they would scream. If you poke them in the eye, they'd go "ow"... I don't see why they would do that if they weren't actually feeling it. Their reaction may be extravagant, but I don't think the pain is quite so severe. As for injuries, usually the recovery time is incredibly fast, but sometimes- if the situation calls for it- the healing takes longer. For instance, a toon's injuries will often be instantly bandaged, with casts and crutches and all that. Another good example is a Donald Duck comic I have. In it Donald falls down a cliff and actually breaks his leg, plain and simple. He feels the pain, doesn't instantly heal or get bandaged, and can't walk properly. Even the next day he still has bandages from going to the hospital after being rescued. I think the reason for it is simple: they needed a reason to make him helpless and unable to get out from the gorge, and therefore require rescuing. It's for the sake of an exciting story- by the standards of Disney comics, anyway. Whether or not a toon bleeds or gets severely injured depends on the drama intended or if it uses gory humor.
Just because a toon is made of ink and paint doesn't mean they don't have a central nervous system. Wouldn't it be made of ink and paint like every other part of their body? We've seen plenty of times that toons have brains, hearts, bones, stomachs, and every other organ except the reproductive ones for the most part. I've heard plenty of cartoon characters that scream "MY SPLEEN!!" If they didn't have a central nervous system, they wouldn't have a sense of touch at all, period. I don't mean to sound smart-alec-y, but I don't see why they wouldn't feel pain. Just not quite so much, I think.

One molded by my aging hippie college-educated parents in homeschool, and scrambled by philosophy, books, and music- and darn proud of it. Actually, my characters do a lot of bleeding- especially since they meet vampires and things like that a lot.

God, your life sounds so...boring. Which makes that interesting! When I'm in the mood, I make my characters feel my wrath...and that's not a good thing. Just so I don't have to face Spikey's wrath, yeah, that would hurt pretty badly if my hand got snagged in a bear trap. It would have been more amusing if - in all that is cartoon glory - Greasy's hand came off, then another one grew from his wrist. Even a little 'pop' sound effect would have me rolling on the floor.

My life mostly consists of brain activity, multimedia and art these days- it used to mostly involve school bullies.
Anyway- a toon who bleeds is generally one who either is more realistic or dramatic, or more gory. I almost entirely do the former. My characters tend to be more like real animals, which is the influence of Secret of NIMH at work.
As we've discussed on this forum before, the worst thing you can do to a Toon, after Dip, is to blow them up, it seems. Only that and things equally violent- and weakness to laughing- seem to produce an angel.
