Thank you again!!
Chapter 4
"Your birthday's in two months, anne." Aysu said the next evening. Elmas was sitting on her daughter's bed while brushing her mousy brown hair. She gave a 'hmm' sound. "What d'you want?" The young weasel asked, a grin on her face. She could barely wait to tell her mother the good news.
Elmas' brushing slowed, but it quickened again. "Maybe paint." She answered quietly. Aysu's grin widened even more as she said, "Well, ya know what ya SHOULD ask for?" Elmas chuckled. "What?" "I think you should wish for Dad to come back."
The brushing stopped.
"...W-what?" Elmas asked. Her voice sounded different now, like someone had just punched her in the gut. Aysu hesitated. "Dad. To come back." She answered, a bit more meekly. Elmas shook her head and put her paws on her daughter's shoulders. Aysu turned to her mother, and felt something hot and wet fall on her fingers. Elmas wiped her eyes and shook her head, "We don't have the right, cicim* (*darling). What happened, happened. It's not up to us who should live or die."
"But don't you want Dad back?" Aysu asked. Elmas blinked and brushed her fingers on her necklace, "....All the time." The black-haired weasel shook her head again, "But not like that. I don't want to pact with the Devil or anything." "Who says ya can't do it without devils?" Aysu pressed on.
"You can't play God, Aysu!" Elmas snapped, "Your father is dead, and that is that!" Aysu recoiled. Her mother never raised her voice. Never. Elmas whimpered and marched out of the room, slamming the door behind her. Aysu blinked for a minute and touched her bedframe, just to remind herself that it was there. Then, she pulled out the amulet Fatma had given her, holding it to the candlelight.
She sighed and rubbed her temples. What now?
~*~
Elmas stepped out of her apartment building, trying to quieten her sobs. Bring Smart Guy back. Ha. Her daughter had made it sound so simple, so right, as though there would be no consequences.
Well, there were. What if the Toon Patrol came back, but didn't remember her? What if they had to learn how to eat and talk and walk again, like toddlers? No. It couldn't be done.
But if only it could... Smart Guy.
Elmas buried her face in her hands. She felt as though a pit had taken the place of her heart. Even after 14 years, she could still hear him, see him, sense him. Sometimes in the morning, before Arash woke her up while getting ready for work, she could hear Smart Guy's 'alright ya mugs, fall out!' When it was cold, she felt his warm arms around her. When she was standing in the wind, she felt his paw caress her cheek.
She touched the wet locket.
"Get over here!" Elmas gasped and took a step back, inside the apartment building. She heard someone scampering somewhere nearby. "Well?" A female voice demanded. "Ah, well, the twins managed to get four of the five objects." Another voice said meekly. Elmas frowned. Were they talking about her kids? "Excellent." The first voice chuckled darkly.
"Um, ma'am, what're we doing again?"
There was a pause.
"You must be joking," said the first voice, "We've been talking about this for months. Are you really that stupid?" "Is that a trick question?" Asked the second voice. Elmas had to fight a giggle. The first voice groaned and said, "See this building? This is the reason we're in Istanbul! There lives someone who took away the person who mattered the most to me! She couldn't accept the fact Cahit was better and just HAD to go crying to the police!"
Elmas' spine turned to ice. Cahit? Her brother?
"So yeah, I got ticked off. So that's why I practically jumped for joy when Valient killed 'em off. But the only problem is, souls don't disappear if they didn't die properly. They stay with the living, but they're invisible."
Anger creeped in the first voice, making it even more terrifying for Elmas to listen.
"That ain't enough for me. I have to see them damned, if it takes the rest of my life! Now, ya see this?" Elmas poked her head from the building. A hooded figure was holding something to the street lights for her minion to see. It looked like some sort of amulet. "The brats have one just like it," the hooded figure explained, "But with one tiny difference; theirs is designed to HELP those wretched souls, but this," she caressed it with her other paw, "It's designed to send them straight to Hell."
Elmas' eyes widened, and her paws trembled like newborn pups. Then, her frightened expression melted into a dangerous scowl. Her lips pulled away from clenched teeth, and she could feel her claws push into stone. With a hiss, she turned back into the building.

Thank you and here ya go!
Chapter 5
Cagri flipped through his library book, black eyes skimming through the lines for important information. He'd been shut in his room for the past hour, and so far had uncovered nothing. He was just wondering whether to call it a day when the word 'curse' caught his eye. Cagri read the passage:
'Angels are thought to be more powerful than living beings. On the contrary, actually. Nowadays, what with voodoo and dark magic performed by many, angels have become toys in human' hands. They can easily be reincarnated or sent to Hell with personal items, on the anniversary of their deaths, and the blood of an innocent.'
A loud 'Ha!' shot through his ear. Cagri jolted on his bed and hit his head on the iron bedframe. The black-haired weasel winced and rubbed his head. He might've been a Toon, but it still hurt. Aysu stood there with a cascade of giggles flowing from her mouth. "At what age do we learn to knock?" He demanded in his quiet voice. With the low volume, it sounded pathetic.
"Oh, relax," Aysu said, poking her brother in the ribs. She arched a brow, "What're you reading?" Cagri hissed through gritted teeth and hid the book in his shirt. Aysu smirked and grabbed the book. "'Angels, Devils, and Damnations'? Boy, you know howtta pick 'em, huh?" Cagri flushed with embarresment. He snatched the book back and stuffed it under the pillow. Aysu frowned. "Why were you reading that?" She asked suspiciously. Cagri looked at his lap and refused to answer. "Hello?" "Aysu, you know I don't like what we're doin'." Cagri said gravely. Aysu sighed in frustration, "Bro, we're bringing our family back together. Can't you think about Mom's happiness?" "I do." Cagri said firmly, "Mom wouldn't want Dad back. Not like this."
"What the hell d'you know?!" Aysu snapped.
Elmas barged in the room. Something in her prescence chilled the twins' blood. "Uh, hi Mom." Cagri said shyly. "Don't 'hi Mom' me." Elmas hissed, "I know what you two're doing. And I'm here to ground you for a month."
"WHAT?!" The twins shouted in unision. "Exactly; no television, no painting, no friends for one month." Elmas hissed, her eyes emotionless pits. "B-b-but why?" Cagri asked. "You're asking?" Elmas sounded astounded, "You're in cahoots with a voodoo priestess and you're asking why you're grounded?!"
Aysu gulped and looked down, "Mom, we were only thinking of you." "Well, you shouldn't have! Your father's time is up! Meddling with that kind of thing's not right!" Elmas wiped her eyes furiously. "Yeah, but Mom, I just wish I had met him. You barely talk about him!" Aysu pressed on. "Well you know what?" Elmas shouted, "You're lucky! Because you don't hear his voice in your head every day...every hour..." she crouched down and grabbed fistfuls of her hair, "...every minute...every second." She quickly recomposed herself and said, "What you've done is unspeakable. You're grounded, and that's that."
The door slammed shut.
Cagri sighed and hid his face in his hair even more than usual. "See?" He asked hopefully. Aysu shook her head and said, "No. No way. We've come WAY too close to give up now!"
~*~
"What're we doing again?" Cagri asked the next day during lunch. "We're gonna make Mom and Arash think we're at school, and the school that we're homesick." Aysu repeated, dialling furiously. Cagri shook his head. "It'll never work."
"Well Cagri, if you're so smart, you think of something!" Aysu snapped. Cagri sighed and rubbed his temples as his sister continued to dial the headmaster's phone number on the payphone.
~*~
"Hello?" Headmaster Kekilli, a Toon dog, asked in the receiver. A loud wheeze cut through the static. "Mr. Kekilli?" A female voice rasped. The dog frowned. "Yes, who is this?" "This is Elmas Tomruk, mother of Cagri and Aysu, seventh grade." "Ah, yes! Miss Tomruk, I wanted to thank you again for funding the Roger Rabbit exhibit last month." He said in a pleased voice. "It was nothing." The voice said, "Look, I have the flu, and I gave it to my kids. They won't be attending school for the rest of the day or tomorrow."
"Alright, thank you for the call." "Good day." "To you."
~*~
Aysu hung up, flashing her brother a smug grin. Cagri sighed and said, "Mom would kill us." "What she knows won't kill her. Or us," she added under her breath. She dusted herself and said, "C'mon, bro. We got a ceremony to do."

You'll see.
Chapter 6
Elmas searched through the family albums. She was sure she had seen the cloaked weasel somewhere in a photogragh, and what she had heard the other night had buried itself in her mind like a hook. Elmas had never harmed another living creature in her life, so she couldn't understand why someone would accuse her of 'taking someone away from her'.
Unless...
The hakikat project. That was what she called the case that had brought her and Smart Guy together. It was also the case that had showed her Cahit's true face. His hatred for his own sister had led to him being burned alive in a sewer. That had been the only person the Toon Patrol had ever harmed (unless the Toon shoe counted), therefore...
A pair of cold eyes looked at her. Elmas stopped flipping through the album and looked at the photo. It was dated about a month before the incident, and it showed Cahit and a blonde-haired weasel holding each other with wide smiles. On the female's index finger was a gleaming engagment ring. They reminded Elmas of her and Smart Guy, and for a minute, she remembered how broken she had felt after he'd passed away.
It wasn't too difficult to put herself in the blonde's shoes. It wasn't hard to put all the pieces together, either.
Elmas slapped the album shut and ran out of the house.
~*~
"Hurry up!" Fatmas screeched as Cagri finished lighting the five candles. Aysu was at her brother's heel, placing each item next to a candle. Twilight was breaking in the park, and Fatma had already drawn a burning coffin with a piece of black chalk. "Alright, alright! Don't get yer panties in a knot!" Aysu shouted, ticked off.
Fatma scoffed and held her paw out, "Hand over the talisman." Aysu nodded and put her paw in her jacket pocket. Cagri's paw slapped over hers. "Hey!" Aysu squealed. "What're you doing?" Fatma asked. "Why do you want the talisman?" Cagri asked suspiciously. "To bring your family back, duh!" Fatma snapped, wiggling the fingers on her extended paw. Cagri snorted and looked at the drawing, "Funny you should draw a burning coffin, two symbols assosiated with death and damnation."
"Look, wilya just gimme that talisman?!" Fatma shouted. Aysu stiffened, swatted her brother's paw away, and handed Fatma the talisman. The blonde weasel snatched it and said, "Now, lemme just read the incantation." She turned around and, with her back to the twins, switched the talismans. With a dark grin, she pulled out her own talisman and turned back to Cagri and Aysu. "Alright, so we need one last thing before the ritual can begin."
"What?" Aysu asked in an annoyed tone. Fatma smiled, like one who was about to reveal a secret, "The blood of an innocent." Cagri's blood turned to ice as the passage he read flashed through his mind. Even Aysu looked scared. She cleared her throat and said, "Um, an INNOCENT innocent or a just-released criminal?"
"Well," Fatma's voice wavered a little, "it usually works with...blood ties." Aysu gasped slightly. "Don't do this, sis." Cagri whispered furiously. "Do you want your family back or not?!" Fatma shouted. Aysu stood there, staring at Fatma, until she sighed. Fatma grinned and handed her a dagger.
Aysu hugged her brother tightly before taking the dagger and holding it on her wrist.
"DON'T DO IT!"
A gunshot exploded in the night air. The dagger was knocked out of Aysu's paw. Arash came up behind Fatma and hit her on the head with a steel-toed boot. The blonde yelped before falling face-first in the pavement. Elmas rushed to her daughter and dropped her pistol. She shook Aysu's shoulders and cried, "Oh, you scared me! What were you thinking?!"
"I-I-I..." Aysu's face crumpled. "I'm sorry." Elmas sighed and hugged her daughter tightly. After a moment, she opened her arm to her son, who was only too happy to join. Arash ran a paw through his hair and said, "Someone wanna tell me what's going on?" Aysu sighed and pulled away from her mother's arms, "It was my fault. I...I was trying to bring Dad back, and Fatma said she could help." Cagri shook his head and put a paw on his sister's shoulder, "No, it's my fault. I should've stopped her." "No," Elmas said firmly, "It was HER fault." She glared at Fatma as though she were filth on the ground, "She was my future sister-in-law. When your uncle died, Fatma thought it was my fault. So, she tried to kill you off and damn the Toon Patrol, just to hurt me."
Arash rubbed his head and nodded. He looked from his stepchildren to the ceremony. Then, he looked at his wife, who was mindlessly fiddling with her locket. Arash pressed his lips together and said, "Kids...is bringing back the Toon Patrol that important to you?"
Aysu and Cagri thought a moment. Then, they shared a glance before nodding. Arash smiled sadly and turned to Elmas, "Be sure to give Smart Guy a handshake for me."
Elmas' eyes widened. "No. Arash, I can't let you do this." Arash raised a paw to silence her, "I know you've never really loved me. And I don't want to force you to be with me." He looked her right in the eyes as he spoke; a gentleman to the end. Elmas' eyes watered; she pushed past her children and gave Arash a tight hug. "Thank you," she whispered.
Arash kissed her on the forehead and gestured to the chalk drawing, "I'd change that, wouldn't you?" The three nodded. Elmas took the bullet out of the dagger and sharpened it once more while Aysu and Cagri erased the drawing. Cagri kneeled down and skillfully drew an hour-glass with a cross on it. Aysu kept a close eye on Fatma: whenever she so much as stirred, the brown-haired weasel hit her on the head with the shoe.
Finally, they were ready. Arash inhaled deeply and put the blade to his throat. "Look, you don't have to do this if you don't want to." Elmas said. Arash smiled and said, "Hey, I just want you to be happy." Aysu wiped her eyes and sniffed, but Cagri said, "Wait."
Everyone looked at the black-haired teen. He held up a little book and opened a passage, "It says here that blood must be shed, but not fatally." Aysu pointed to the book, "How did you-?" "She dropped it when she fell to the ground." Cagri said sheepishly. Arash rolled his eyes and gestured to the book. "C'mon, read the instructions."
Cagri nodded and his eyes skimmed through the pages. "Put the talisman to the center of the drawing, and then drop blood on it. The bodies will appear." He explained. Arash ruffled Cagri's hair and took the talisman from the unconscious weasel's paw.
Little did they see her eyes flicker.

End
"It's time." Arash said as he placed the knife on his arm. Elmas fought back tears of gratitude and clutched her children's paws. Arash winked at them and was about to dig the blade in his fur...
When a red, wet knife went through his chest.
"Arash, no!" Elmas screamed. Arash gurgled and fell on his chest. Fatma stood behind him, her eyes like chunks of ice. She shook her head mockingly and said, "Pity he didn't have eyes on the back of his head, eh?"
"YOU B*TCH!" Elmas lunged at Fatma and showered her with punches. "YOU WANT ME?! TAKE ME! JUST STOP HURTING MY FAMILY!" She bellowed. "I don't want YOU!" Fatma shrieked, shoving Elmas to the ground, "I want your brother! But oh no! Because of your hubby, Cahit's a pile of ashes somewhere!"
"He got what he deserved," Elmas growled, positioning herself between Fatma and her children. Fatma chuckled, "Yeah. And now you're gonna get what YOU deserve," she turned to Aysu and Cagri, "By watching your kiddos die."
Elmas yelled and lunged at Fatma, sinking her fangs in the blonde's neck. Fatma screeched and kicked Elmas in the stomach. Then, it was her turn to crawl on the black-haired weasel. She smiled darkly and held the bloody knife to Elmas' throat, "This is coated in Dip, y'know." She said, "It'll sting a bit."
Gunshot.
Fatma's eyes widened. Then she, with Elmas, looked at her chest. The white blouse was deepening to red. Fatma looked at Elmas before gurgling, "P-pure....luck." Then, she fell off Elmas. The black-haired weasel yelped and crawled away from the carcass until she was a good seven feet away. As her breathing slowed, she frowned.
Her children didn't own guns.
She felt a hand on her shoulder. Elmas looked up to see Wheezy, his Thompson Sub Machinegun M1928 in his paws and a grin on his face. "Wheeze!" She shot up and threw her arms around him. He coughed a little before rasping, "Hey." He hesitantly put a hand on her back.
Then, she felt two someones hold her: one hugged her with a purr, while the other cuddled her legs. Elmas' eyes darted to Greasy's 'seducive' look. "Hola, senorita," he said, "Looks like Wheeze stopped a girlfight, hum?" Elmas chuckled and kissed him on the cheek. The Hispanic weasel's face turned the color of a cherry as he cleared his throat and said, "Your ninos did well, too." Physco giggled shrilly and continued to cuddle Elmas' legs. After hugging the insane weasel, Elmas looked up to the scene.
The candles were burnt, and the objects were missing. Arash was still lying on his stomach in a small pool of blood. Stupid was staring at the twins with a finger on his lips, apparently listening as Aysu explained something. Standing behind them was a familiar pink-hatted weasel.
"Stupid!" Elmas hugged Stupid warmly. "Duh, hiya, Elmas!" He grinned, "Um, weren't we dead?" Aysu slapped her forehead. Cagri sighed. "I'll explain later," Elmas said. "Duh, OK!" Stupid said cheerfully. Elmas nodded and looked at Smart Guy. He looked up and grinned at her. He pulled his kids closer and said, "Did I eva tell ya I dig fighter chicks?" Elmas laughed and jumped on him.
"Um, Mama?" Cagri piped up timidly. Elmas and Smart Guy looked at their son. "Yes, sweetheart?" Elmas asked. Cagri wiped his eyes and pointed. His parents followed his finger. Arash was lying there, in a puddle of his own blood. Elmas choked back a sob and slowly detached herself from her husband. She slowly walked towards Arash and sat down next to him. His eyes were blank, and his body was stiff as wood. Elmas felt the tears trickle down her cheeks. How could she have forgotten about him? He had been willing to cut himself to give her true love back to her, and he'd been killed off like a mosquito. In the end, the spell had worked.
They had needed an innocent's blood. Trying to keep it from coming true, Fatma had made it happen. Elmas cried out and cradled Arash's head.
"Doll?" Smart Guy asked. "...We need a funeral," Elmas said after a brief silence, "A funeral to the hero of this family."
