i've been thinking lately. what if they were to make a toon patrol movie, with a storyline all to themself? :U with how they came to be, them growing up, and becoming the toon patrol and whatnot.
i wonder if a petition would do any good?

i just found out yesterday that a better script for "Toon Platoon" has been written...I think now it's called "Who Discovered Roger Rabbit?", and I think the Toon Patrol is in it (but they aren't the Toon Patrol yet. At least two of them are FRIENDS with Roger, who blackmail someone to use Roger in his movie. They didn't tell FOR SURE whether they were the Toon Patrol, or who they were blackmailing, but they were surely weasels with Tommy Guns!)

i know that ain't what you asked, but at least it's SOMETHING, no? a Toon Patrol movie would be the most AWESOME THING EVER!!!!! But I doubt they have enough fans to make any money, which is all that matters to 'the man'. >:[

What I had heard is that Disney did an animation test with traditionally animated weasels holding CG guns (instead of the guns dangling on strings), but they didn't like it- and so they completely lost their minds and did another test with ALL the characters completely in CG. First, Spielberg didn't want to do Toon Platoon because he had already done Schindler's List with Nazis in it and didn't want to repeat himself. Then Who Discovered Roger Rabbit? was given the greenlight, with musical numbers written and everything. The rumor is that dear old Eisner discovered that it was going to go over-budget and canceled the project, putting it in limbo. Also, I hear Amblin objected to Roger becoming a franchise like the other Disney characters. What?! And what about Gary K. Wolf? Doesn't he have more say in it? He embraced the new Roger with his novel sequel Who P-P-P-Plugged Roger Rabbit? (which doesn't have weasels, by the way), so it's not like he would've minded. And honestly, why would anyone NOT want Roger to be equal in fame with Mickey and Donald? He deserves to be part of the family. It's unfair that he's become such a short chapter in Disney history.
There's been of course at least one fanfiction about their backstory, and I myself am currently working on one.
So SPJ... do you mean to say that you're going to hire an animation team and camera crew, and write a script and everything? It's not so easy.
Admittedly, I myself have pipe dreams of bringing about a sort of "Weasel Renaissance"... if I get enough status in the art world (luckily I live in LA and have an Imagineer for an uncle), I may very well have at least permission to use Disney characters. Even if I don't have any voice in Disney, I'm determined to make my own animated features, regardless of what company distributes them.

If they just make another Roger movie, not CG plz...that would be great. It would be even more better if 5 of them gets to be in it.
Fatal : That's really interesting back story you got there...Eisner...what have you done...sigh. And it is frustrating that Roger is kind of being held back. Disney should just have the full rights. They can just buy it off if they don't! Can't they? Then WFRR should have made it into KH game series already!!(still wanting) And wow Imagineer uncle! sounds awesome. XD I really like animatronics and stuff! I want to become an animator too... May the force be with us.

Before Bambie or Mickey Mouse came into the cinemas, they didn´t have fans, too. If someone, maybe Disney Company it self would make a sympatical movie about the toon patrol, they would get fans for sure.

Same question... Jebikun-sama, why not CG? :3 Oooh, I know... The guns. Yeah, it's better having real guns: WAY more original.

Before Bambie or Mickey Mouse came into the cinemas, they didn´t have fans, too. Well, technically, Bambi was based on a book, so... I do think CG guns and other props would be wise, because you gotta admit that there are some awkward and kinda mechanical moments when they used animatronic arms and strings for when the toons are holding human-made objects. For instance, when Smarta** is holding his gun, there are some moments when it looks like his wrist is broken. CG metal, after all, seems to be pretty much perfected. But we can all agree that the toons themselves should be traditionally animated. It wouldn't be right otherwise...

Hmm, maybe you're right... But maybe now that times have changed (a little) they can manage a more "professional" effect.
And no way would I ever let them make the toons with computers!!! Much less animate them.

Joker-san, (teehee) What I meant by no CG means only for characters. I don't mind if they use CG for props, background, if it works....As long as characters are animated in 2D,everything's fine ! 2D forever!~~~ Ah there's something called toon-rendering, but that can't substitute true 2D ...
\Oh! but it must be great if we get to see some shorts starring WFRR characters made by Pixar (or in that quality).
