I think perhaps it's the skimpy outfits. Usually you don't see a toon animal that scantily clad. Nor do you often see a toon animal with visible gender-specific areas...
This certainly would make them the classic film noir femme fatales, wouldn't it? Dangerous women- it's practically mandatory for the detective to meet dangerous women.
We'd probably see some fights between them and Jessica... then again, what do I know? I'm a guy.

Smart A** would be a bossy woman, cause he's the leader, and she would be voiced by Tress MacNeill.
Greasy would be a beautiful Mexican gypsy, retaining his hair, plus she'd be voiced by Angelina Jolie.
Psycho would be a crazy lady! She'd be voiced by Kath Soucie.
Wheezy would retain a smoker, except he'd be female, and voiced by Julie Kavner (Marge Simpson, but with Patty & Selma's voices).
Stupid would be a little girl with pigtails who loves candy and junk food, and she'd voiced by either Cheryl Chase (Anjelica from Rugrats) or Cree Summer.
