[glow=blue,2,300]29 signs of comfort and lost[/glow]
The sun gleamed down on Toontown, it's smile wide, but Jaurez felt nothing like the weather. She felt the depression that had settled into the minds of Veronica's friends.
As her brown eyes stared at the Toon Patrol door for a minute, she finally raised her paw and knocked.
Seconds later, Abby opened the door. The mute jill blinked as she pushed an orange bang away from her azure eyes.
"May I see Smart Guy?"
Abby cocked her head and nodded. Jaurez stepped in and silently made her way to the office. The door she had faced many times in this lone month faced her with a deadpan face.
She grasped the knob and turned it, walking into the dim room.
Smart Guy didn't notice her as she walked over to him. His eyes were blank until she placed her hand on his shoulder.
"Smart Guy?"
He stared up at her, his eyes barely seen over the pink rim of his hat. He hummed, a sign for her to go on.
After a while, Jaurez finally regained her courage and said, "It's time to move on."
***
Heaven was just how she pictured it. Full of clouds.
Veronica looked down at Earth, her amber eyes full of pain. She hugged herself as her long, silver tail wrapped around her.
"Oh for the love of...Get over him!"
The she-wolf blinked and looked over at Craig, his yellow eyes gleaming from under his hat as his dove wings flapped once, stretching.
Veronica glared as she said, "You don't tell me what to do."
"You've been moping 'round her for a month now. What's done is done. How life is." the dark fox said.
"You don't know what it's like to lose something!" she yelled.
Silence.
***
"...wha'?"
Smart Guy sat up, confused.
"You've been depressed for a month now. Yes, it's painful, but we're just going to have to accept that." Jaurez said, softly.
***
Craig turned and faced her, snarling, "I don't know? I've lost my only family to the depths of Hell."
"They deserved it." she snarled back.
***
Smart Guy shook his head, muttering, "You don't understand. I-"
"Loved her. I know. I also know I can never replace her..."
***
He stared at her, his golden eyes wide. The she-wolf looked away, her wings wrapping around her as she said, "Sorry...."
His stare softened. "No, you're right...they did."
***
Smart Guy said nothing. He simply let the small comfort he got from her hand flow into his body. He looked at her, his eyes full of pain.
"I'm sorry. I lost my mother when I was young, so I, too, know how it feels to lose someone..."
***
"Look, I'm sorry, but we both lost something. We just have to heal it." he said, stepping closer.
Veronica sighed.
"You're a very pretty wolf, Veronica, and I hate to see ya cry."
***
"...but we have to live on...Veronica would have never wanted you like this."
Smart Guy nodded, letting her make him look at her as she said, "You may not know this, but I do care about you."
***
"You just met me." she said, giving the fox a small smile.
"True....but I have gotten to know you...and so far you are a beautiful, sophisticated..."
***
"...and magnificent weasel...."
Smart Guy only stared at the gray jill.
Her lovely eyes stared back at him.
He had a choice now: he could chose to stay depress and wish someone could come back when he knows they never will....or chose this kind Toon who has agreed to heal the hole in his heart.
***
She chose him...
...Um, this is like one of those scenes in a movie or book where it's sort of back and fort between two similar scenes. The last part means Veronica chose Craig while Smart Guy chose Jaurez.
