I like Pokemon. My friends like Pokemon. My teacher likes Pokemon. So I decided I should put up a thread on it, seeming as most people like Pokemon. Here, you can talk about your favorite Pokemon, Trainers, Professors, and Bad Guys, not to mention pictures and descriptions of Pokemon and characters you may have made up yourself. The video games can also be spoken about here. GameBoys, Nintendo, GameCube games- stuff like that. Cheats are also considered games here.
So, basically, any ideas, games, anything about Pokemon can- and will- be poked and prodded, and seen from all different angles. All I ask for is, NO FIGHTING. Thank-you.

I shall start. My favorite Pokemon is Grovyle, and in my Emerald game I have named my Grovyle Kyle. I am a Grass-Pokemon specialist. Some people think Grass-Types are better off in gardens. Those people should think again. Remember, even beautiful roses have thorns. Then there's my second fave- my Shroomish, Wane. He's a awesome little fellow. He knows mega-punch ;D

Ah, Pokémon. One of my first obsessions. Before that it was Calvin and Hobbes. Heck, I remember when it first came to America, although I didn't get into it until half of the anime's first season had already been aired. I still get a good feeling when I hear the first season's theme song. I think 1998 and 1999 where big years for me.
I've always kind of leaned towards the Fire type, but then again, I like any Pokémon with a coolness or presence to them. When I'm at Pokémon websites, I call myself "Typhlosion".
It's been a rather strange trip, watching Pokémon change over time. I was bored out of my mind during the Orange Islands and Johto seasons, and disturbed by the major overhaul of the Hoenn season, and then relieved by the improvements, and then disappointed by the quality dropping again later that season and especially after they replaced the beloved original voice cast. There was a big hooplah over that. I stopped watching after the beginning of the Sinnoh season. (I do intend to watch them eventually, though.)
It's strange, really- they've got this whole universe that's over ten years in making, and they still can't get over the whole badge collecting bit. Badges are cool to get, but I can't help but wonder if the anime writers are aware that there are other things for them to do. That's one reason I like the Mystery Dungeon games.

The new Pokemon aren't what I was hoping for. They don't that awesome originality that the first Pokemon had, like Bulbasaur and Pidgey. They've been making them with too many details, and my idea of what Palkia and Dialga looked like before I saw them is, sad to say, much better than the originals. And yes, I agree with you all the way- the gym badge collecting bit is old. They should do something new- or at least get a new main character.

To me it looks as though each new generation is trying to look more like Digimon or something (except not as wrinkly), and less animalistic. I'm usually rather selective as to what Pokémon I like- sometimes it takes an appearance in the anime for me to like them, because then I can see them move. For example: I used to not care much for Linoone, but when one of them appeared in an episode, I liked them because of it's movement. The thing with Ash and his getting badges isn't exactly bad in of itself- it's only a bit dull because he doesn't really do anything else. My philosophy is, it's not the thing itself, it's what you do with it. Then, of course, there was all the attention May was getting from entering Pokémon Contests. Ash got shoved in the background... then it was collecting Symbols. Next thing you know they'll be collecting stickers. You know what'd really be cool? They should have the Pokémon themselves have more importance in the story. What you hardly ever see, outside of the movies, is genuine acting in the way the Pokémon behave. Sometimes I think the anime writers forget- in fact, the manga writers will sometimes forget this too- that the foundation of the universe is the interaction between these animals and humans... not the action. That's one reason some of my favotite episodes are ones that center around the Pokémon. For instance, when Ash was carrying around that Tyranitar, or when he first met Treecko. In the first season, there was the one where he set his Butterfree free (still chokes me up), and the one where they're trapped in the snow. And of course, the very first episode. But what really trumps all of these is Mewtwo Strikes Back. Need I say more? The only other movie to equal it so far, I think, is Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. That one was the first to choke me up in a real long time! It was like the first season all over again. Another good one is Mewtwo Returns. The mangas, although I can't read Japanese very well (a mere smattering), are better at this, possibly because they need something more interesting happening to keep your attention without anything moving. The one called Pokémon Get da ze! gives the main character's Pikachu a lot to say and do, making a good deal of expressions. In fact, the main character Shû has something called an "In-Com" headphone set that makes him able to communicate with him. Another good example is Magical Pokémon Journey, which, being a shôjo ("girl") comic, relies almost entirely on humor and the character's inter-relationships. Possibly the most underrated comic of all is the American Pokémon newspaper comic strip. This gives each and every Pokémon character a personality. I personally find it very refreshing and funny... I guess my point is that I'd love to see more story, character interactions and arcs, and world exploration. I've done quite a few fanart drawings where I give Pokémon a lot of expressions.

I suck at drawing Pokemon. They always come out... I dunno... Looking like something a caveman would paint. You know, not stick-figurey but still badly drawn?
Oh, and I can't seem to find a website that includes blogging and fanfics and fanart, like this website, only it's about Pokemon. Help?

My Pokemon fandom died as soon as I saw this... www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4GdGSnhr_cBy the way, Sudowoodo beats all. =P And I only liked Pokemon right up to the season with Totodile and others. I still have my tin box full of cards (especially my super-duper rare ones...man).

I've always felt that the Orange Islands and the Johto seasons were the weakest. It was rather difficult enduring them. And now the Sinnoh season... I don't like whatshername, the ditzy girl. I haven't been watching the anime for months now. It feels like the Johto season all over again... Although I do plan to get it on DVD... in ten years. XP It's ridiculous how long it took them to put out the first season... and it's not even complete!!
I don't quite understand why that performance of the Jigglypuff song would turn you off from it. I'd be embarrassed of fellow fans, not of Pokémon itself... or do I not get your meaning?

Geezus... Geezus geezus... LOL!!! I like all Eevees evolutions. I bawl every time I watch that video. God, was it hilarious the first time I watched it on American Idol! xD My favorite Eevee evolution is Espeon. Took me forever to get in the game. EDIT: fatalhilarity, I was making a joke. I still like Pokemon, but the continuation of the series and making new Pokemon eventually made me stop watching the show and buying the games.
