Hmm... that's a pretty darn good point there. Jessica is mostly based on the beautiful women in Tex Avery shorts, who of course are mostly treated as objects... they've got spunk, though, which I like. Come to think of it, there aren't a whole lot of cartoon human females in the Goldern Era that aren't little girls, old hags, or bombshells like Jessica. And if we were to broaden feminine stereotypes and include all species, would your typical female require a skirt of some kind, big eyelashes, and maybe even a big bow? ...And yet we must also consider the fact that they're supposed to be bad guys. I honestly can't recall any female bad guy toons in the Golden Era... besides witches and stepmothers and such, which is more of a Disney feature film thing than anything else.
I guess that's why it makes sense to use female stars in live action films as a basis, like everyone seems to do when creating female weasels. It works, I think... after all, who doesn't like a strong-willed woman from the 40's?

Hm. I can't recall any female characters that were classed as 'bad' other than the witches and stepmothers either. They weren't really big on having women be 'bad' at the time. Now you have it all the time though. XD Gotta love those 40's girls with butt kicking attitudes.

Yes, all bow down to 40's girls with butt kickin attitudes XD Anyway Kish, if anytime, can you draw the girls off the weasels? Or give very descriptive....descriptions on them? I'd love to get a clear view of them

You mean my girls? Sure, I'll try to get something for them done. I have a couple with Annabelle, but nothing really finished for the others. [later] Ok, that's one of Rosita. I try to keep my girls looking at least similar to the boys. Her muzzle is shorter/thinner than how I draw the guys. (Kinda like real weasels. The males have broader faces and the ladies have more 'mousey' faces.) Anyway, like I said earlier in the thread, Rosita is Greasy's sister, and has a really nasty attitude. She's just plain old hateful sometimes.

I've read all the Redwall novels, but I don't think they really influence my art style. *chuckles*

I'm sensing a late-Twenties art deco look here...

Hey, that website could be real useful to me! I wish it had something more '50s-centric, though... one of my own projects taking place in the WFRR world begins in 1950 and goes from there.

Well, I dug around a little and found this: www.fiftiesweb.com/fashion/album/The whole site is focused around the 1950's and 1960's. That's the fashion album, but there's a whole slew of info on there.

Hmm... I don't see any men's fashion (so far). A large percentage of the characters in that project are male (although almost all of them are toons...) I do need to draw humans, though, albeit mostly as minor or background characters.

Hm, it's kinda hard to find men's stuff, but let me have another look around and see if I can't find you something. www.1950s-fashions.co.uk/mensfashions.htmWould this help at all? I know they're not the best size, but they might give you some rough ideas to go from.

Well, it's definitely something... so yeah, it should help a lot, actually, despite the small size. Especially since they've got that particular illustration style, which I intend to take inspiration from when it comes to drawing the humans.
How do we get back on topic here...?

I guess so. As long as it's about female weasels, really...
